I bought a brand new car back in end of August 2013. I have fifth third bank for my car loan. I have very good credit, I have been making my payments every month on time. Saturday May 17,2014, I receive several missed calls, first it was a blocked number, then a weird +10000000 number, and then another blocked number and then a 866 number. I pick up, and it was a lady on the phone stating she is from fifth third bank. She said the reason why she was calling is that I haven't made my payments since March 2014. I was completely confused, I told her I have not missed a payment AT ALL. She harassed me and said that I haven't paid and that I need to make a payment along with these late fees. I kept telling her I was literally looking at my bank statement online, showing me that the money has been taken out by fifth third bank. She just kept saying well nothings posted and I need to pay right away and accusing me that I have not paid. I hung up, extremely upset because I know for a fact I've been paying, my bank statements do not lie. I call fifth third bank bank to speak to a different agent, got through to an agent, she tells me the car loan department is closed for the weekend, that I have to wait until Monday. I told her I needed to speak to a supervisor or manager, I can't wait until Monday. She puts me through to a gentleman, who could not help me, and was careless with this situation. He then tells me he doesn't see a payment posted for the month of May, I said the lady that harassed me said since March, regardless I tell him I have paid for May, I'm looking at my statement as we speak. He just kept telling me no theres no payment, nothing processing, unless you have paid for someone else's account. I was beyond frustrated at this point! How can you tell me you don't know if it possibly could have been posted to another persons account, and I'm getting chewed up by your collections agency accusing me of not paying when I have clear PROOF that I have paid for the month of may. He couldn't do anything about it, he tells me the same that I need to wait until Monday to file a dispute. We get off the phone, I call my bank, they tell me that the money already has been taken out, its not even in a pending status, I have the ACH ID number, meaning they have the money already. The representative at bank of america said we can three way fifth third bank, I explain that it wouldn't be of help since the department I need is closed for the weekend. We get off the phone and I call back fifth third bank, I just needed answers because now I'm in panic mode with whats going on with my credit, along with the payments I have been making. I get through to an agent, he tells me the same thing that nothing is posted. I explain to him that I have a bank statement, the money obviously is somewhere with fifth third bank because it has been taken out and has your company name on my statement. He couldn't help me but tell me that he will file a dispute. He wrote up a claim, and said that I should hear from someone on Monday, but as of right now, it has went to collections along with late fees. After talking with all these agents and getting no where, this guy finally writes up a dispute and puts in notes, why couldn't the other agents along with the supervisor that I spoke with do that??? I am clearly helpless, I have no idea what to do from here. I'm getting harassed for no reason, I have no clue what happened to my money thats being taken out clearly from them, and I don't know what has happened with my credit. I have been extremely stressed out by this mess. I couldn't sleep and I even missed work trying to get this situated. Monday morning, I miss work, and call fifth third bank right away. The agent was very unprofessional, I told him my situation and I couldn't even finish because he was cutting me off saying the same thing and being firm there is no payment for the month of may. I had it. I told him off that I have proof, i can have my bank three way right now and get down to this because this isn't right i'm being harassed and told that there is nothing because the money is NOT in my bank anymore. He says "okay, let me look into your account more." A couple minutes later he goes, okay I found the payment. WHAT.........??? He says, the representative that took the payment over the phone missed a number on my checking. You got to be kidding me?? How is it that they missed a number, YET the payment has been processed with my bank and has been taken??? That made no sense to me AT ALL. I made a complaint. He tells me that hes going to make sure that it'll be back dated so I won't be charged late fees and that it will not affect my account. He also said he'll hold off on the collection calls. What a freaking JOKE. I have contacted the better business bureau regarding this. This is absolutely unacceptable. All the agents along with the supervisor could not see that my payment was there? This has caused me so much stress. I definitely will be escalating this. Shame on you fifth third bank treating your customers this way. Especially the lady at the collections agency, having the nerve of talking to me the way you did. I am going to look for another bank for my loan.
