A few years ago I purchased some merchandise from Fingerhut and I was satisfied with the merchandise, the company, and the delivery/service. Recently I recieved a catalog with "preapproved" credit. I ordered an item from them, what a mistake!

While filling out the order, I came to the shipping selection, I had two options, standard (10 days to process) or expedited (5 days to process) this alarmed me....no one needs 5-10 days to process an order! Never the less I picked expedited for a charge of $9.99 per item (I only ordered 1 item).

I recieved a confirmation e-mail from fingerhut and a short while later I received a second e-mail stating that my order had been shipped, complete with a tracking number. The tracking number was for Fedex and I started tracking it. It sat at Fedex in St. Cloud, MN for 3 days! The next entry showed that it took 2 days to arrive in Willington, CT. I could drive that distance faster myself! The next entry showed that it sat in CT (2 hours from my house) for 3 more days! The next entry showed that it arrived in West Chesterfield, NH. at 5:37am and the next entry on the same day showed it was loaded on the truck for delivery 2 1/2 hours later. Great!! or so I thought, West Chesterfield is less than an hour from my house. At 4:30 PM, my package still had not arrived and I called Fingerhut.

Before I called, I reread all the emails I had received from them and discovered they had charged me over $23.00 for shipping, not $9.99. When I talked to them, they did agree to credit my account the correct amount.

The representative at Fingerhut talked to FedEx while I waited on hold and was told FedEx needs a couple more hours to get my package to me. (By this time it is 5 PM). Needless to say, my package did not arrive that evening. The next morning I called Fingerhut again and at that point they were completely disinterested in helping me out, only saying that the package was scheduled to be delivered that day.... this was 7 days after my initial order and 7 days after my order was processed!

Now here's the real kicker. When I received my merchandise, the package (rigid plastic) was had been cut open!! The printer I ordered also came with an additional ink ribbon, and that rigid plastic packaging was also open! I obviously received merchandise that had been returned!

Fingerhut got me once. They won't get me again. Isn't this FRAUD???

You being a jerk to customers with problems doesn't help any. She is stating her opinion. You don't like it, there are better ways to handle it.

As for your "return policies", they are a load of crap. My mother bought something about 5 years ago. She ordered one thing (a set of sheets, which she paid in full when she bought them), and got something completely different. It was for my dad's birthday. She called them, and they said they would send a label, and she could ship it back at their expense, and send her the ones she wanted. She told them no, she wanted her money back, and she would just send them back. (It wasn't the first time something like this had happened.) They refunded her money. Well it took her a year to get the label. She kept calling and they kept saying they would send it. When she finally got the label, she sent them back, got a confirmation, and thought she was done. About a year and a half ago, she gets a bill from a collector for Fingerhut, saying she owes close to 500 bucks for these sheets, that where only 50 dollar sheets. She calls Fingerhut, they claim they have no clue. She calls the collection agency, they have no clue. So she has this on her credit, and she doesn't even have the sheets.

Because of that, and the way you are acting, I refuse to buy from Fingerhut now, and all the stuff my mother in law gave me from there, I will be returning to her. Good to know you lost your company another customer huh?

Reading is Fundamental

Another shining example of the inability to read. Too bad. Fingerhut shipping policies and prices are listed in the catalogs. EXPRESS SHIPPING DOES NOT MEAN YOU WILL GET IT IN 5 DAYS!! Express shipping clearly states will ship within 5 business days at an EXTRA COST of 9.95 per item, on top of the regurlar shipping price. If you wanted to know what the price for shipping would have been you also had the option to call customer service, or the orderline.
Your complaint about shipping is with Fedex...they are contracted to ship for Fingerhut, and your complaint should have been lodged with the local Fedex manager. IF you felt that you got used merchandise, you are more than welcome to contact Fingerhut and request return labeling and credit for the merchandise. But, rather than do that...you chose to go this route and again..failed to read the return policies. It never ceases to amaze me at that whining that people do that is usually caused by their own stubborness.
