Fingerhut Corporation rip-off St. Cloud Minnesota

I went home to lunch yesterday to receive a letter from Acess Acceptance corp. They buy bad debts from companies and try to get the money. I was told I owed $836.00 and it was from 1985.

I did not have an account with them in 1985 but did have one in 2000.
I always paid for my purchases and did not have an outstanding bill with them. I used my coupons and always paid.

When i stated to this man that fingerhut had made an error i was screamed at and told i had better pay up or else.

Now i checked my credit report today and low and behold there is a debt on there for $131. saying $72. is late. go figure that. the year is 2001, which is the year i bought a couple of things from them. I never bought anything in 1985. Where did they get that from.

I plan to call them and i know they are going to argue with me and say i owe this but i do not. How can I prove it you never get a letter saying you have completed your obligation.

I am trying to get a mortgage and my credit report is great except for this. Where is the justice in this kind of business.

They are the rudest and meanest people i have ever met. The minute you say this is not you or you have paid this account you get screeched at.

I need help, they are a bunch of donkeys and i was told to call my attorney general of which i intend to do. thank you
