I made the mistake of purchasing something from Fingerhut in 1999. I had been paying with no problems until I lost my job in November 2003, at which time I contacted someone about it and made arrangements. This was fine until I moved. I called and had my address changed about January of 2004. Then I recieved no mail from them at all.
I tried to call them again and again but of course this time i did not have a 15 digit account number to enter in their automated service because i had not recieved a bill in several months. The automated service does not even give a chance to speak to anyone it just tells you to call back when you have your account number. I have tried to call several times and several different numbers to try and get my account number but none have worked.
I have since moved again and have gotten married and recently checked my credit report which shows that fingerhut has sold my account to a collection agency called Jefferson Capital Systems LLC. The credit bureau did not have any phone numbers to contact Jefferson capital and of course i have recieved no mail whatsoever from them or even notifying me of the collection activity. I have looked everywhere on the internet for a phone listing for this company and have had no luck. I have even written to fingerhut and had no reply. I want to pay this account but find it hard when i cant even talk to anyone about it, and i have no idea where to send payment to.
If there is anyone out there who may have a phone number for Jefferson Capital please let me know. I think it is bad business not to respond to customers about their account when they are trying to do the right thing. I have tried every way you can imagine to try and contact these people so i can get my address finally corrected and pay them. I dont know what else to do but i have to pay this and get it off my credit.
