Ever since I bought a set of tires and lifetime wheel alignment from Firestone, my 2007 Honda Civic has been having problems with tire thread wear, cupping and other issues. The steering wheel keeps shaking at 45-75mph and turning to the right when I'm driving through the highway. Since I paid "lifetime alignment" I return to them for the same tire and alignment issues and all they do is try to sell me more and more unneeded parts that "supposedly" needs to be changed in order for them to honor the lifetime alignment I had purchased. I do NOT recommend Firestone. They are a scam and rip off in everything they do. Their techs do not know what they're doing and they all have opposed and different opinions about my car's issues. They are confusing and I will file a detailed case with State Attorney General about their bad and incompetent service.

Good Luck!

Cars are difficult to deal with and it is so hard to know when to trust someone with it. You never know when you are being taken advatage of. It is important to work with someone you trust.

I hope it works out for you.

Thanks for the useful information, I've gotten different diagnosis and opinions from different tire shops, including Firestone. It gets very confusing and frustrating at some point.

#3 Consumer Suggestion

Bubba Lee is right.

AUTHOR: Alix - (United States of America)

The cupping and tread issues from your tires are not linked to alignment. If you get your shocks replaced, you should notice your tires lasting longer and the pull will not be as bad.

I had similar issues (pulling and shaking and tires wearing out in strips). I had my car aligned, axles replaced and the only thing that made a difference was the shocks.

I fully believe in the usefulness of warranties (especially on cars). But lifetime warranties scare me because at some point, it is going to cost the company more than they charged you to fix it, and the car is not going to last forever.

Response to: "SO tire cupping is not caused by alignment problems. Period. What will is bad shocks, bad tire balance, Low tire pressure. The pull could be caused by alignment but two of the above problems will either cause a pull or tire damage that will cause a pull. Finally the alignment for life program does not cover replacement parts, and of course the parts will wear out much much faster if the tires are out of balance, the shocks are bad or the wheels shake from cupping. So you were not ripped off, you don't want to know, and just want what you want rather than what you paid for and are entitled to.".......

1st of all: who are you to decide if I have been ripped off or not? just so you know, there are other customers who's had similar experience with FS lifetime alignment. Google it and you'll find more. 2nd: Cupping was one of the issues they diagnosed a month after I bought 4 Brigdestone tires from them. Issues that I never had with my Honda before taking it to FS. I went to the Honda dealer mechanic for a second opinion and as they said: "tires were not cupping, but car was not correctly aligned". I went back to FS with Honda's opinion and another tech diagnosed something totally different than what the 1st FS tech had diagnosed. 3rd: I'm pretty clear that lifetime alignment program does not cover replacement parts. But it seems as one of many excuses from FS in order for them not to perform what I paid for >lifetime alignment< Finally: Off course I want what I want....I want complete and honest service from the company which I paid to do so, because I am entitled to.
