They sent back 4 of my payments, yet charged me late fees. To top it all off, my interest rate suddenly went from 6% to 27.6%. My account balance mysteriously increased by nearly $800.00. Can't reach them by phone, and no response by mail. I'm afraid to send money to yet another PO box. Criminals use PO boxes, and are impossible to find. I also understand that if you make a payment, it means you agree to the terms which I most certainly do not! Would you believe we are still fighting with these morons???

AUTHOR: Carol - (U.S.A.)

Now they credited all late/over limit fees, notified me on December 8th, and "charged off" the account on December 9th. They actually admitted to documentation of this exact chain of events in their computer system, agreed that our credit had been wrongfully trashed, but refused to do a thing about it.

After dozens of calls to their "charge off" division, countless conversations with the alleged supervisor Sean Schimmel (who I might add assured me he would "fix" the charge off, and a week later said he couldn't fix it) We were then referred to his supervisor, Peggy Robinson who never bothered to return our calls.

All the while, they are calling us at least twice a day.Every time, I'd explain the whole darn thing over again, and thier response was " Oh yes, we have all your documentation...but we still have to call you". We've been to our military legal officer Who sent them a "cease and desist" letter January 22. Still, they continue to call.

The difference now is that even though their number appears on my caller ID every day, they deny calling us. What is wrong with these people? Don't they know they are breaking the law?

I know exactly what you're saying

AUTHOR: Carol - (U.S.A.)

Scot,

Believe me, I know exactly what you're saying. And the confusion is certainly understandable. I"ve spoken to the "new entity" several times now,and I truly feel for those poor people. Nearly every customer that calls there blames the whole mess on them, and they merely inherited the problem. My main concern is the interest rate (we were protected under the Soldier and Sailors Relief Act at 6%, and are now at 27.6%), and the fact that if I make a payment, it implies that I agree to the terms, and the mysteroius increase of my balance by nearly $800.00. I'm staying in touch with our military legal officer until this thing gets sorted out.

It sounds as if you work for them or an affiliate?

If things aren't "cut & dry" they'll return them...

AUTHOR: Scot - (U.S.A.)

Carol-

Remember you have a new entity processing payments. If things aren't "cut & dry" they'll
return them...

Were your checks returned from Oregon, New York, Nebraska or Georgia? This makes a difference, I might be able to give you some better direction.

returned payments ..They did change my account number without my knowledge

AUTHOR: Carol - (U.S.A.)

Thank you Scot, but I made those 4 payments the same way I have for the last 15 years. I received no explanation other than " problems processing your payment". They did change my account number without my knowledge, and that new number comes up "invalid" in their automated system. Of course you can't find a real person to ask.

#5 Consumer Suggestion

Returned payments

AUTHOR: Scot - (U.S.A.)

Did they explain why they returned your payments?
Chances are they sent you a letter or note explaining why they could not post your payments.
Did you include your complete account nmber on each payment?

Most of the time if a consumer sends in a payment or payments and did not clearly write the account number for which they wish the payment posted to, the check or checks will probably be returned.

If you did receive a letter with your checks, you could return a copy of it with your checks and ask them to consider waiving the late fees.
Its worth a try, the worst that could happen is they will say no.
