at its best!

I was contacted the other day by a company claiming to be a collections agency working with a company called Clear Credit. They initially told my wife that I had opened an account with Clear Credit and had to pay for a credit report that I had received from them.

Fortunately my wife didn't buy any of this and asked for more info but the person on the phone began to get nasty with her so she hung up. When I got home I tried to call this company back by the number on our caller ID (866-948-2632), all I could get was a voicemail that was full.

Today we received another call and I happened to be home to receive it. This time it was a lady who stated I owed $59 cancellation fee for some clear credit account that I had closed. First off, I have never signed up for any such account and I told that to the person on the phone. I then said I wanted to know how they had my SSN# and to where this credit info of mine was being sent. They then said that if I didn't pay $59 that this would hurt my credit and I should just pay up.

I asked the person on the phone for there name and to speak with their supervisor immediately. I was given the name of Miss Williams and her personal number of 312-948-2944. She then proceeded to tell me that if I would just pay my bills this problem would go away. I then asked her who gave them authorization to get my report info and where they got my social security number. She would never give me the info I asked for and continually said I need to pay up. I then told her I was going to report this to the FTC and I hung up on her.

Fortunately I happened to do a little research on the internet and found this site which listed several other people that had experienced the exact same thing from this bogus company. My main concern is how they got my SSN# in the first place. Now I am going to have to put a Identity Theft Alert on my credit to make sure that no other fraudulent activity can occur. I do hope this company gets busted by the FTC and put out of business. This sort of fraudulent activity needs to stop.

I wish anyone that has been scammed by this company the best of luck and I am willing to help in any capacity I can.
