This letter is to complain about service we recently received from Fletcher's located at 1535 N. Burk, Gilbert, AZ 85234. We took our 2000 Nissan Pathfinder to get an oil change, new tire and a tune up. When we dropped our vehicle off we were having no issues and it was running perfectly.

On July 3rd, 2008 we dropped off our Nissan out front and went in to talk to the person at the counter. I told the guy managing the counter that I was wanting an oil change and to air up the front passenger tire because it was low. As I turned to walk out I decided to find out how much it was to get a tune-up. I was told that I would be called with the price and told that they will check it out and see exactly what it needed. About an hour later I was called by Brandon and was told that I needed a new tire as well as a complete tune up because the rotor, cap, wires, and plugs were all bad. I told Brandon that if he could do all this and keep the price under $500 then to do it all. Brandon told me that he could and he would call me in a couple hours to pick it up. A couple hours went by and I received a phone call from Brandon asking me to come down to the shop because he needed to talk to me. I asked if everything was alright and he said no but I want to talk to you in person. When I got to the shop I was taken to the vehicle and told that it had thrown a rod and that it would not run properly unless fixed. I questioned Brandon about this and was told that after I dropped off the Nissan they pulled it into the garage and checked it out to see what was needed then pulled it back out of the garage to the parking lot then called me and told me what they had found. Then they said they pulled the vehicle back into the garage and this is when it was making noise and threw a rod. I told Brandon that this sounded extremely fishy and that I felt it was something that they did the first time they had it in the garage that caused it to throw a rod the second time they pulled it in. Brandon disagreed with this. At this time I told him to put the car back together and then I would pick it up. About an hour later I was called notifying me that the Nissan was ready for pickup. I went down to pick up the car and as I got there Brandon came out and said the car won't even start now and would have to be towed. Brandon used their tow company at no charge to deliver the car to our house. In a matter of hours I took a car in perfect working order in for routine maintenance and got it back needing a new engine and it won't even start!

It was noted on the invoice that the oil looked watery and that the spark plugs were really bad. We have checked both of these and do not see water in the oil nor did we find that the spark plugs were "really bad".
We expected a much higher level of service from your company, and we are quite disappointed. We are requesting that the engine for our vehicle is fixed and we would like to be reimbursed $25.00 per day (beginning July 3rd) that we are paying to borrow a vehicle as the Nissan was our only means of transportation.

Fletchers Tire And Auto Service Blew engine rod Gilbert Arizona Positive Update

We have heard from Fletchers and they sent their general manager to our house to look at our vehicle within in days of receiving the complaint. The general manager had our vehicle towed to a different Fletchers location and they replaced the motor with a used motor and the only fees we had to pay were for an extended warranty and for a tune up totaling $760. We are happy with this action and consider this issue to be closed and resolved.
