Food City Unfair to Employees Ripoff Coeburn Virginia

My husband was working as bagger/carry-out and was commended almost daily for his excellent work. Then he accepted 11 'fuel bucks' (already earned by customers other than himself). They were given to him by customers in lieu of a tip. Four of the 'bucks' were given to him by a cashier when the customer said they did not want them. When another employee saw this, she reported it to one of the managers and the cashier was immediately fired. They were a little kinder to my husband who is 78 years old by telling him to quit or be fired.

He had no idea that he shouldn't accept the bucks. The front-end manager lied and said that she had spoken to him about the 'bucks'. He was devasted...he is the most honest person that I know. He would not take anything that did not belong to him!

My son-in-law also worked as a truck driver several years ago for Food City. During a slow period, his hours were cut back until he could not care for his family as needed. They told him it was temporary and he wanted to take another job to earn more money, with the agreement that he would come back as soon as his hours would pick up. Food City refused and he had to quit, and was told that he could not return to work for them. I have talked with numerous other people who have been treated unfairly or know someone who was. What goes with Food City? UNFAIR LABOR PRACTICES!
