I bought a used Ford Windstar, after a trip to the store one day it caught fire in my driveway. When i contacted my local Ford dealer [Maples Ford ] warsaw missouri, they informed me that this was a common condition and some models had been recalled for the exact same problem, mostly pick -up trucks.

The part that is defective is the cruise control shut off which attaches to the bottom of the brake fluid resovoir, with age and wear they begin leaking, then catch fire. I have since been informed that many Ford vehicle's have been recalled for the exact same thing!!!. and its the same damned part, the body stlye has nothing to do with the faulty part.

Since there is no recall on my particular vehicle they can offer no assistance in my case, I feel it is because i told them "the important part was adding this type vehicle to the recall list", they say that they havent had enough reports on this model to require a recall[ "they don't want to spend the money"].....how many is enough, one life is more important than all their cars if they cant make them safely.

There is an emergency fuel shut off in my mini van which i believe is a direct descendant of ralph naders battle with Ford over the pinto...oddly enough i own a windstar.
my last letter from Ford denying this claim was August 22, 2007, re: case number 570742287, the letter was signed by Marcel Miclea, consumer affairs.

This is completely unacceptable, my car went up in flames, luckily i dont park it in the garage...and could you imagine twins strapped into child seats ? but they havent had enough claims....but they would not reveal to me how many claims they had...i wonder how many incidents is enough to risk their God almighty Buck.

Thanks for listening at the very least warn your loved ones that if its a windstar its possible that it will catch fire, dont let them keep feeling secure in a car that is a time bomb !!!

P.S. mine is fried, we could save yours if we all pulled together, and made them squirm, but i will settle for everyone just warning 2 people.maybe we can save a life.
