Free CreditReport.com Its not free. They say you get a free credit report for 7 days and after that charge $14.95. Not true the minute you hit the button you get all three reports not just one and it doesn't tell you that they charge for the other two till after the fact. There isn't any way to just get the one free report. Irvine California

I signed up to get the free credit report. It doesn't say anything about charging you unless you go over the 7 days that are promised free. You have to put your information in before you get the report and at that time you get all three reports. It doesn't tell you that they charge for the other two reports and so when you find the charges guess what! They have charged you $24.95 for these. Only one of them is suppose to be free but you don't get that option. I registered twice and was Charged $24.95 both times. When talking with them they wouldn't refund the money nor would they allow me to talk to a supervisor. They also told me the only way to contact you was through snail mail. I've contacted my bank to dispute these charges.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Where to obtain a free credit report

AUTHOR: Maggie - (U.S.A.)

"Free Credit Report.com" is just the name of the site. It is designed to make consumers believe that they are going to get a free credit report, but they are, in fact, selling something. The first red flag was when you were asked to give your credit card number. Why would they need that if what they offered is free? They know that it's human nature to want something for nothing and they take full advantage of it. Yes, you can obtain a credit report, by law, for free. You just have to know where to go.

I obtained my credit report using annualcreditreport.com. It doesn't make it difficult to get your report like so many other sites that make you wade through many sales pitches for other services. It is very easy to hit the wrong button on those and end up subscribing to some type of monitoring service that you don't need or want. You are entitled to one credit report free per year from each of the three major credit reporting companies. If you request a report from one of these every four months you can keep track of what's going on with your credit at no charge.

However, the law doesn't require anyone to give you your credit score free. Even annualcreditreport.com will offer you your score for a price. I don't get my score because I can get a good idea of my credit-worthiness from just the report I get free. The site I mentioned is the ONLY one that I have found that doesn't have you jump through hoops to get your report. Remember, you are entitled to one report free from each company per year by law. You don't have to pay for it. You don't have to give them a credit card number. You don't have to buy any service or your score.

And one more thing: NEVER, NEVER, NEVER give anyone your credit card number unless you are buying something and know what you are buying. Reputable companies that are really giving you something for free don't need your cc number. You are in control of who has your cc number and if you just hand it over to someone without reading the fine print or just to enter a site you are being irresponsible and should expect to be charged for things that you had no idea you were buying.

Read before you put your cc info in

AUTHOR: Leigh - (U.S.A.)

If the comp says there is something for free then it asked you for your cc info and you give it without reading the terms whos fault is it ????????? There is a 3 step process that you have to go threw to get all 3 reports. It is Free Credit Report not free credit report's. You get one report for free if you chose the other 2 you have to pay for them. I have talked with many people that say I've never been on the web page before if that is the case some one has your ss # mothers MN, Bday address and you may be have had your idenity stolen and not know it ( opps I forgot YOUR CC #) Really if it says free and then ask for a CC # back out or read to understand what you are doing....... If you have a credit report you are an adult. PS: the CSR can tell if you viewed the report.....time and date so don't waste there time saying you never viewed it.
