On April 30, 2005, My son and I went to the Fresno Recycling Inc. #105 to purchase a driver side seat belt for a 1994 Kia Sephia. It's my Grandson's car we had purchased for him.
They could get one, so we placed the order. Unfortunately my son and I could not remember the year, so we told the clerk (1 DEG) it was probably a 1996 Kia Sephia at time of purchase.
Being there was a problem with the year of car, before we left, I asked the clerk, if the belt was not the right one, would I get my money back, or what would happen. He replied they would take it back and find the right one.
When I got home, I looked up what year of the car and it is a 1994. I call them back and tell them it's a 1994 not a 1996. The Clerk said it shouldn't make a difference.
Belt arrives, and it is not the right one. My husband takes back and he is told beings this was a "Special Order" they will not take back. This is first time we have been told it's a "Special Order". Our invoice shows type of sale as "Counter Sale".
My husband , myself and our son return once more to try and solve this problem. I reminded the clerk of what he had told me. He said we were the ones who had gave the wrong year, and the place where the belt came from would not take back the belt and they did not have one for a 1994.
Plus again he repeats this "Special Order". I asked him why we were we not told this was a "Special Order" at time of sale. Plus how can this be a "Special Order", it's a salvage belt from a wrecked car, and dirty. They said beings they had to request from another salvage place, this made it a "Special Order".
I felt they have more resources to find another buyer for this belt, than me. Either way, I'm stuck with a $66.73 seat belt of which I have no use.
I even offred to pay a 25% restocking fee, if they would try and find the right belt as I was told they would do. They could have cared less about doing that.
These people who work there are very rude, disrespectful and do no care if you are pleased or will ever do business with them again. Another clerk, maybe a manager, I do not know, was very smart with me when I offered the restocking fee. He replied, " so you want me to keep the belt and pay for you another one"? I said no, I will pay a restocking fee and the cost of the correct one. He just smirked at me.
So, I told them how upset I was with them and that I would let as many people as I could, know how they ripoff people and are unwilling to satisfy their customer. They laughed. They could have cared less!
I went to a dealership and purchased the right one for $161.00.
The original belt was frayed and I feared for the safety of it if my Grandson would have an accident.
It's very sad that this business thinks they are so successful, that they no longer need to satisfy their customer.
