I purchased an outside central air conditioning unit back in July 2005. Had problems from day 1. Tried to get it replaced immediately. Wasn't cooling and shutting off during the heat of the day. I had installing company out to check it out--they claimed everything from my attic wasn't sealed enough in a certain place (fixed that immediately with no results), to not enough insulation, to it's just really dang hot outside and it will not cool your house any lower than 80 degrees, etc.
I had another company take a look at it several times. Original company was out again in 2007 and wrote this statement on my invoice "labor and materials necessary to install start controls on the condenser for proper operation" that bill cost me $222.40. (This was called a "Hard Start Kit"). Still not cooling properly.
Here it is summer again, and guess what? Yeah, the outside unit quits again and I am waiting on the repair guy (different one this time).
My old unit was going on 25 years old and it only had a leak but was getting in rough shape. Put some freon in and cold again. I decided to replace with this Frigidaire/Nordyne unit and nothing but problems and never cool except 1:00am or later at night. Even old unit was better. I try to sleep during the day as I am a night worker. Do you know how hard it is to sleep with temps in the 80's inside? Unit runs non-stop. My power bills have reached almost $500 month---next door neighbor--in $200 range.
The delay tactics given shortly after installation got them away from replacing the unit. Now, I have to pay someone to fix the fan or compressor and yes I understand it is only couple hundred dollars. But each one adds up and I still don't have a cool house even when working. Very Dissatisfied!
