I have a care credit account that I was the co-signor on for my ex husband. It was for dental work that he needed. I am currently trying to purchase a home and in the middle of my loan process I find out he is very delinquent on the account. I never received a call asking for payment and had no idea that he was behind. Now my ability to close my loan depends on care credit doing what they need to do. First when I called I was treated with indifference by the customer service. They accepted my payment of almost $200 then informed me that it would not be until 9/13/2012 that the credit reporting agency would be notified. I asked them for a letter stating that the account was paid and current. The customer service rep (who was obviously reading from a script) just kept saying we cannot do that. Finally I asked to speak to a manager. The manager got on the line and in a very indifferent tone told me the same thing. After arguing with him he finally said oh yes we can do that but it's a different department. He stated that he had to send a request to that department and it would be 2-3 days. I asked if there was anyway to expedite updating my credit report and he (once again reading from a script) went through the same spill the previous man went through. I felt blown off because he would not help me and I stated this to him. I also stated that if I needed to call back there is no way for me to reach him in particular. He told me his name was Josh and that if I called back if he was there I could speak to him. So this morning I called back. I just figured that I would stay on top of getting my letter from them. When I called back the man was very nice (although once again reading from a script) and he told me that he could request the letter and either get it to me today or in the morning. Of course no one knew who Josh was. To me this company is an example of a corporation who cares more about getting their payment than the lives of the people making the payment. I would never finance with GE again mainly because not only was I lied to by the first couple of representatives (dishonesty) they failed to notify the co-signor (me) when the account was past due. My credit score was ruined and they did not even bother to call me and let me know it was going on. If they are able to ruin someone's life without notifying the person they should not be allowed to do business.
