There is no sense in a good company like GEICO doing business with scam artists. My husband and I have been GEICO customers for over 6 years. I am very pleased with GEICO, and I must say they offer better emergency road service than AAA at a much cheaper price. I am asking all satisfied GEICO customers to protest their affiliation with National Magazine Exchange.
If you are not familiar with National Magazine Exchange, go and read the large amount of complaints against them. They are forbidden from doing business in several states, and they have been fined $25,000 by the US Department of Justice.
A family member is a former employee of National Magazine Exchange aka Special Data Processing, Inc. What they do is send you an urgent mail piece saying Second notice we are trying to reach regarding your one million dollars sweepstakes ID#_______. Please call 1-800-235-6247 as soon as possible. Blah blah blah Sincerely, Pat Haines, Sales Representative (really the owner's mother). Then things get really heated once they get you on the line:

You would want the magazines and free gift sent to this home address (verify address), right? Hold on, while I introduce you to my supervisor. Good luck in the sweepstakes and please hold.
Verifier answersHi. This is ________. I'm a Supervisor.
SSR This is (SSR's name). I have (Customer's Name) on the line. She/he chose 3 magazines at a rate of $1.29 per week. His/Her ID number is ______.
Verifier Thank you.
(GEICO - IF THE CUSTOMER DOES NOT SELECT MAGAZINES AND HAS A CREDIT CARD. NO GEICO OFFER IN NJ, MI, MA)
"Would you like to hear how you could save a bunch of money on car insurance? The average new GEICO customer saves $231 a year. I'd like to transfer you to GEICO for a FREE NO-OBLIGATION QUOTE? Okay?"
The so called Supervisor is nothing but a verifier who would like very much to have your credit card number or your checking account number. Once that is in their greedy little hands it will cost you a bundle of money for magazines you most likely would rather not have. (Approximately $300.) The Better Business Bureau would have you to believe that National Magazine Exchange has complaints against them but they have all been satisfied which is complete nonsense. I cannot understand for the life of me why GEICO would do business with known scam artists. You don't want your car insurance prices to rise do you? GEICO doing business with National Magazine Exchange aka Special Data Processing might just make it happen!
