Way back in August, My wife was hit by a customer of GEICO Auto Insurance. My wife has State Farm on her vehicle. It took two weeks before they could even tell who's fault the accident was. We had a rental car for a very short time. We can never get a hold of them. And We still haven't settled.

When the wreck initially happened, My wife was backed into by their customer while driving correctly through a parking lot. We first talked to a lady named Jennifer Trevors who has been the most helpful person we have talked to. She assessed what she could (medical) and passed the rest over to Christy Upright who was in charge of auto damage. This was when the trouble began.

The man who hit us was supposedly very hard to get in contact with and so 2 weeks went by before fault was declared as his. At  that point we were told they would pay  to tow the vehicle. I had already had it towed however because my workplace had threatened to "do it for me" If I didn't. Jennifer called us back a day or two later with confirmation that a towing check was being mailed out.

Then we got in touch with Christy Upright for the second time. She told us that since GEICO was not staffed in this area, we would have to do the running around and getting estimates for repairs on our vehicle. This seems like a crazy thing to me. GEICO is insuring people in an area they don't have the staff to actually do it correctly?

After a good bit of hassling trying to get a auto-body repair shop to give me an estimate for the body damage We finally sent just the mechanical estimate to GEICO with notes from both us and our mechanic saying that we had not yet been able to find a body shop that would handle it. The working portions of the car had been fixed t he day after it was towed by our local mechanic who then held it until he was paid.

Before the check arrived we had finally received a rental car. Then we were woken one morning saying that the rental car company was about to call the police and we had til 5 to return the car and pay 500$. After 4 hours on the phone trying to get a hold of someone who could tel me what happened, I Finally received a call from Jasmine, Christy's supervisor. After explaining the situation she authorized payment of the vehicle up to the date and sent a message to Christy regarding it.

We went a total of 2 months with only one vehicle, which caused us to miss as much work as our jobs would allow for car pooling. I've been late so many days from switching out who had the vehicle  that I'm near being fired and cannot be considered for a promotion and likely will not get my yearly raise.

Now we are still trying to get a hold of anyone who can handle the auto-body portion of our claim and its been months. And worst of it all, they know that my car is insured by them and they do nothing.

I'm going to try faxing in the estiamte again and then consider getting legal help. Will update if they screw me again.

I HOPE

AUTHOR: Bubba Lee - (Canada)

I hope you have a similar policy to mine.

I recently got into a crash and was not at fault.

The other drivers insurance was dragging their feet.

I called mine and said (politely of course) Please, the other company will not communicate with me, I would like you to repair my car under my collision coverage,  supply a rental car under the specifically included portion of my policy and chase the other company for me.

Less than 24 hours later I was driving a comparable level rental car and the other insurance company was dealing with my company instead of me. My insurance company is on the hook for every penny they won't cover so they are being very helpful!

The Car should be out of the shop next Tuesday-ish.
