GENERAL ELECTRIC GE General Electric as a whole is a ripoff and products may be deadly Louisville, Kentucky

We purchased a General Electric Self-Cleaning Radiant Range.  One night we heard this popping sound coming out of the kitchen.  When we went to the kitchen smoke was coming out of the back of range and large pointed paint chips were flying everywhere.  My husband shut of the breaker box.  Paint chips continued to fly until range cooled off.  We were lucky we were home or our house would have burnt to the ground.  Luckly the only damage was a cut under my eye from a paint chip.  I found paint chips clear in the next room. 

We contacted GE and got passed from one person to another with no help.  We contacted Bodlys, the store where we purchased the range.  They sent a new one out, stating that they would work with their GE Rep on getting things settled.  While their delevery person was installing the new range, their person said that our wiring was bad.  They made us unplug the range and hire an electric co.  to come out and check our wireing.  there was nothing wrong. 

I did file a complaint with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.  We got a letter from them, sent them more information and pictures of burnt parts, etc.  We have heard no more and have never been contacted by GE.  Then GUESS WHAT, the next month we got a bill and a sales slip from Bodlys (stating Special orders can not be cancelled or returned). NOTE is was not a special order as it was in their warehouse.  We have now spent thousands on these ranges and no help from anyone.  We have now replaced every GE Appliance we owned, with other brands.  GE won't get us again.
