I get a phone call from 4802199520 on Thursday Sept 23, 2010 at 10:02PM saying that they had got my information that I was looking for a house to rent.
First I was concerned because they called me private really late at night and is against Federal law to call so late. Second I never contacted a company about rentals unless it was a locally established company that I have known my entire life which deal with rentals and do not charge a fee to know what they have.
This guy calls me saying he had TONS of places and some that dont require deposit or a first months rent because they are that good and get deals from these people who have listings. They said I needed to fill out paperwork stating what I am looking for despite that he has already written it all down. During our conversation, he said he knew the ages of my children and that was strange because I never told him. I recalled talking to a man who had a local number and he and I talked and he was the only one I went into detail with about my child's ages. This company says I contacted them but all they had was my phone number. They want to know my email address so that they could send me a Client Information worksheet to fill out so that his boss knew we were serious.
Upon filling out this and sending it to them, They replied back and said they had my information and were ready to proceed after I sent them the retainer fee. The man on the phone never told me how much the retainer fee was nor did he go over why I needed it. I did ask on the phone and he brushed it off.
When I replied back to the email that said I was ready to look at property once I had sent my retainer to them I replied back and said what retainer and how much.
They replied back as I dont know what your talking about we are a professional and licensed rental agency. Then started being confrontational by saying you called us and you dont feel confortable with the process then find someone else to help you.
Saying we certainly dont want to work with people who are not interested in renting property. I told them I was interested but that I didn't contact them and they obtain my information from an individual and they didn't have the right to do that. I also told them they needed to provide me with credentials, website, anything that can prove they are a legit business. They dodged my questions about the retainer and about showing proof. I finally got them to give me 1 piece of information.
This helped my locate that they have had several name changes and then led me to you which they have another complaint azdesertrentals.com and Complaint: 579236
This company is preying on people to give them money to find a place and then ditching them at the end when money goes through leaving people homeless and without retribution because they file under Corporate name and change it so often the person cant file for lawsuit fast enough to get their money back.
I am in Texas and this company claims to be able to move you to most anywhere in the US. Can you Imagine being several states away and find out your just paid for a lie and then your realize you are homeless with your stuff in rental vans? These people really take the cake!
