Medium credit scores for both husband and wife were/are in the mid 700's. Had been GM customer for years without any delinquent payments.
Other charge cards no where near maximum limits.
Constantly receiving offers of additional credit from present charge cards. Additional credit being offered by new charge card lenders on a daily basis.

Perhaps next time they will find that you were late with a payment, such as you were late with your son's or daughter's allowance payment.......?
Well, it sounds like you know your solution. Make the GM card "low activity".
Maybe you have a credit union with a good & simple deal and no tricky reasons for imposing a default rate? I went 'my credit union' route. The T&C are very simple: pay on time and everything is fine and I get one screwup per year.
Most CC's offer 'great deals' with tricky reasons for imposing a default rate that are too complicated for most cardholders to really understand... until the cardholder 'gets burnt'.
