GMAC auto insurance m favorite I feel like they do not clearly state what you need when they give the rate and and you make payment sarasota, Florida

Purchased insurance from GMAC  June 2012 for a good rate paid in full for a year over $1,200. In October 2012 received a letter stating I did not provide proof of insurance.  And a new bill for $1490 after I already paid for a year.  The date of receipt of the cancellation letter was midnight the that night.   I had faxed for proof. copy cancellation notice and prior card as proof when I got the policy originally not good enough.

 They wanted a deceleration page never told me and most people do not know what that is.  Instead they ask for proof of insurance.  My new bill was another $1470 pay or my insurance cancelled a  When I called nothing they can do stated I know this is confusing but send more money and we can re-instate.

I managed to get a new policy at Nationwide same day however, when I asked for a refund of my 7 months remaining I received a check for $12.00.  I called the FL insurance commissioner and was told to mail a copy of the deceleration page along with my new insurance proof.   I filed a complaint with the FL insurance commissioner.  They said the refund should be pro-rated since I had proof. I don't expect anything thank Goodness I am not a single mom trying to feed her kids.

This company is non responsive and a rip off my insurance has cost $3,500 with the new policy to keep coverage.   Most people do not know proof of insurance means deceleration page. I happen to know the difference and would have sent if told.
