On Oct. 13, 2006 I received an email to fill out a survey on an HDTV that I recently purchased. The email offered a $20 voucher for ebay, to be sent via email at the completion of a survey that was suppose to take approx. 30 minutes.

I completed the survey in about 50 minutes and waited for an email with my $20 certificate. I didn't receive it, so on Oct. 17, I wrote an email explaining that I didn't get it. On Oct. 21, I received an email that says I will get the voucher.

It is now Nov 20th, 2006, well over a month since I filled out the survey and GMI (globaltestmarket.com) has not responded to any further emails regarding this issue and I have not received the $20 voucher. They have falsly advertised this offer and didn't send anything for wasting my time on the survey.

Finally Received Payment

AUTHOR: Troy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 14, 2006

Filing a complaint with the BBB in their area opened up prompt communication via email. After a couple of weeks of emailing back and forth, I finally received payment. GMI says one of their clients was responsible for fulfilling this payment and they apologized for the delay. Case closed.

Filed a complaint with the BBB today

AUTHOR: Troy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 20, 2006

I filed a complaint on the BBB site today regarding this issue. $20 isn't much to argue about but it's the principle of false advertising and not doing what they say they will do that irritates me.

To answer the last question, I didn't provide any personal info other than name and address on their survey. If the complaint gets resolved I will update this rip-off report promptly.

A far more important question, Troy: What info did you give

on the survey? Anything that can be used for ID theft or financial fraud? I know that Consumer Reports recommends that product registration surveys from the original manufacturer should not be filled out beyond the basic info needed to validate your purchase for a new product warranty.
