GRAU GALARZA CONSTRUCTION, INC.- CONTRACTORS REMOVE A SUPPORT FIREPLACE LOCATED IN BASEMENT -CAUSED STRUCTURAL DAMAGE AND HOUSE IS GOING TO BE DEMOLISHED APRIL 13, 2012 Paterson, New Jersey

In 1996, my Mothers Historic (actually is listed) home needed a heating system.  She goes thru a Community Development department in Paterson, New Jersey.  She gets accepted. Is mailed a list of contractors to choose from.  A couple of them come to home to look over work to be done.  The total amount given in the form of a lien against her property is $15,000.  The contractor chosen tells the homeowner what they can do for them under the amount of the lien.  My Mother needed heat as a main upgrade and they threw in a new roof. 

Grau Construction, Inc.-Contractors start putting in the new heating system which consisted of a Utica boiler that is housed where a fire placed once sat.  The problem is that they did such a shoddy job- they removed the fireplace (which supported the above floors, floor joists, surrounding areas).

Now my Mothers home is so dangerously and structurally damaged.  That it is to be demolished on April 13, 2012.  Mind you we just got the notice on Saturday, March 28, 2012.  The Senior Inspector of the City of Paterson Community Development and Community Improvement is trying to say that the heat was already installed when the contractor put the in.  The particular boilers serial number was made in 1996 and not before.

This was under a HUD affiliated, funded program.  The City of Paterson, New Jersey has dropped the ball and has been unsupported of our plight. The horrible condition is due to a program that did not care about its recipients and allowed them to be not disrespected but allowed construction companies and contractors to get paid with HUD funded money programs without if any casualties. 

No one inspected her home.  She was and still is a senior, widow with some handicaps and this is how they are leaving us.  This a beautiful Historic home that will be destroyed.  We do not know what we are going to do.  The home is full with belongs located in the attic right down to the basement.
