I ordered a "free" CD and agreed to have the shipping cost charged to my credit card. The shipping was supposed to be $1.99. My card was charged $1.99 along with another charge of $1.00. Both of these charges were on the same day, 2-11-08.
Eight days later, 2-19-08, my card was charged $39.95 for something that I did not authorize or even know what it was for. I'm still not sure what the charge was for.
Nine days later, 2-28-08, my card was charged $7.95 for something that I did not authorize or even know what it was for. I'm still not sure what this charge was for.
When I saw my credit card statement on 3-15-08, I called this company to complain and request a refund of the illegal charges. I was told that my "account" would be closed but the charges could not be refunded. I have no account, have never opened any account, and never agreed to any charges other than the shipping.
I looked at my credit card activity again this morning, 3-16-08, and found another charge of $9.95 that was not there when I looked at it yesterday. It has a post date of 3-6-08.
Is there some authority or agency that can prosecute these crooks?
