Yes, the manager Scott of the Prattvile Game Stop has taken advantage of yet another disabled person!!!! My son-in-law who is disabled and mentally challenged (if you talk to him 30 sec. you know) and lives on a fixed income found a way to buy a PS3 game for Christmas by my daughter who is also slow, bought it for $700.00 through the power company. He took it to Scott (who he says is his friend) to try and get a cheaper game station because he can't affor the $5.00 games for the new system and this is when Scott bought it for $200.00. They still owe over $600.00 to the power company for this system. This is $500.00 theft in my opion! My husband and I went in there and asked him to make it right, just give us back the system, he declined to do anything to make it right! This is robbery ! Is this legal or is the disabled a protected group? I thought they were so why are we not protecting them? Do they want the opportunity to make it right! What is the world comming to when Greed over comes morality. What does this say about the company they work for?

ok who are you?

AUTHOR: Thespotter - (United States of America)

No offence but does being slow run in your family? When you buy an item and try to pawn it, you are NOT going to get the same price back you paid it's that simple. And yes that is pawning a game when you take it to game stop. You can go buy a car from a foird dealership right now for 9 grand the MOST theyll give you back for it is 4grand less than half of its original value. HE WASNT TAKING ADVANTAGE OF A SLOW PERSON! He was doing his job and following policy.

Why ?

AUTHOR: Prissy - (U.S.A.)

Why would someone pay your son $700 for a game system that sells for between $300-$400 ?????? The price they gave him was genereous, because they certainly can't get much on a previously owned system. Wise up, lady. How long would YOU last by giving away $300 or more to everyone who came knocking on your door ????

Who is to blame?

AUTHOR: Tnixon123 - (U.S.A.)

I am sorry that your son is disabled and I understand that you may feel Game Stop took advantage of him but I do not think they did it because he is disabled. I believe they have a set price they will pay for ANY used systems or games that they must abide by and $200 sounds about right for a used PS3. They don't care if the president of Sony himself comes in they will not give more than that for a used PS3 because they won't be able to resale it for much more than that.

I believe the real concern here would be your son purchasing that system for $700 from the Power Company (which I assume is Alabama Power in that area). That is outrageously overpriced and they offer deals like that (game systems, TVs, etc) and add them to your power bill for at a low monthly cost which in turn you end up paying on for years and years because that low payment barely covers the interest.

We all must live within our means disabled or not. I personally have a great job but could not for an instant think of spending $700 on a game system if my income was fixed.

Again I don't believe that Game Stop treated your son any different than they would anyone else. It is not their issue as to how much is still owed on the system, that is the responsibility of your son, disabled or not. The only part I agree with is that maybe they should have refused to even purchase it from your son but he would still be stuck with a system he can't afford.
