Gary Store aka Gary Pools sold us a Speck Pump for $745 for our inground pool. Only problem is...it is not designed for permanently installed pools. They know this but still tell customers it is used for inground pools. Even worse the owner, Leif Zars, admits in writing that they use this very same pump in the installation of their inground pools for all of their customers. Many people have paid thousands if not hundreds of thousands for pools that are installed with pumps that are not designed for permanently installed inground pools and that could burn their houses down.

Our pump ran hot, so hot you could not even touch it and was hot even after being off and the breaker off as well for four hours. We did not know any of this was going on. We only knew it kept tripping the breaker. Then we found in the Owner's Manual that it was not to be used in permanently installed inground pools. The Inspector of our little town said this could have burned our house down. I am interested in getting in touch with all Gary Pools customers to investigate if they have these same pumps so that they will not have their houses burned down.

Letter from Speck Pumps

AUTHOR: Gary pools - (U.S.A.)

Attached as the letter from Speck pumps, the manufacturer of the pump that this customer is stating was not for inground gunite swimming pools.

It states that " We are the manufacturer of the pump Mode 433. The pump is designed for and is suitable for permanently installed in-ground concrete pools"

Please read the attached letter from Speck Pumps for more information.

Response from Gary Pools & Speck Pumps

AUTHOR: Leif Zars II - (United States of America)

Gary Pools addressed these issues by getting a manufactures response to the issues and refunding her in full for her purchase.

In summary the manufacturer responded that the pump is designed and UL approved to be used with in permanently installed pools. Her confusion seemed to come from not reading the entire section of the manual.

Also the manufacturer acknowledged that their pumps do run hot to the touch as their manual states. Furthermore if her electrician needed assistance properly wiring the the motor, the
manufacturer would be happy to assist.

I myself observed the pump being tested at our warehouse to insure it functioned as I would expect, and it did.

I am sorry that we could not satisfy her and hope that all is well.

I have included a picture of the manufacture's response, or you may email sales@garypools.com for a copy.

Unfortunante Misunderstanding by Consumer

AUTHOR: Gary Pools - (U.S.A.)

Yes, indeed Ms. Robles purchased a Speck 433 from the Store at Gary Pools. At the time Gary Pools learned she was not satisifed with this product the customer was asked to please return the item, in working condition, for a full return. After about a month Mrs. Robles returned to the store at Gary Pools and the pump was returned for a full refund. As to the questions regarding the pump itself, Speck Pumps, the manufacturer of this pump has issued a public letter to Ms. Robles condracticing her claim Gary Pools is selling a "wrong" product.
