Well, because they said I did not fill out their waiver form correctly.... they CANCELED MY INSURANCE FOR NON PAYMENT about nine months after I paid them in full for a 12 month policy. I was not aware this change had been made to my policy, and I received nothing further in the mail (or phone calls) from Geico regarding the WAIVER they said they so desperately needed me to fill out correctly. I just continued to ride my motorcycle THINKING I was still legally insured.
Then one day while sitting at a STOP LIGHT, just waiting for the light to turn green.... I was T-BONED on my motorcycle by an elderly driver. I was lucky to survive, but later when I went to report the accident to Geico, and it was at THAT time they informed me I was NO LONGER INSURED with them... for failure to pay. WHAT?!! How do you cancel an insurance policy for non payment, after you were paid for a full year IN ADVANCE?? Long Story Short... By Geico erroneously canceling my insurance policy they made me appear to be an UNINSURED DRIVER.... and as such, I am not able to pursue the person who T-boned me for pain and suffering! So Now I must chase after Geico for Breach of Contract, for CHANGING MY POLICY WITHOUT MY CONSENT OR KNOWLEDGE. They now claim they sent me several letters in the mail, telling me that a change was made to my policy, and that I needed to respond. I check my mail DAILY, like everyone else, and I NEVER received anything from them telling me they were about to add something (I did not want) to my policy, because if I had received anything, I would have contacted them immediately to straighten things out. Geico is NOT your friend, and if your insured with them... I hope they dont screw you like they do everyone else. If you see a lizard in the road with a british accent, RUN IT OVER for me, will you please?

Uninsured Motorist WAIVER form

I was only riding the bike a few days out of the month, and I did not have the EXTRA MONEY that Geico wanted to add U.M. to my policy, but they added it anyways!
The law requires most of us to be insured while on the road, and while there IS a chance I could get hit by an uninsured driver.... I figured I be dead anyways. Bottom Line is I was compliant with the law and knew exactly what kind of insurance I wanted and could afford. I had the minimum insurance as required by law, I filled out the waiver form (and retained it) and Geico put me in a situation by not honoring my initial request. I was not at fault, and they would not have had to pay anyone had they not canceled my policy for "non-payment". They had no problem cashing my payment for 12 months coverage but did not give me a full year coverage.
