She took the insurance cards from everybody and wrote out a superficial report to make the guy happy. Only one problem: The police officer saw some beat up dents on this guy's car and marked them on the police report. She assumed that my son made the dents. On photographing the dents later that week, we noticed that the Geo had been in a serious accident where it was sideswiped knocking off the passenger mirror.
Geico called us and told us the accident was my son's fault and they were going to fix this guy's car. We told them that it was old damage from a prior accident. GUESS WHAT? They didn't give a damn. We have been telling them for three months now that the guy is ripping off the insurance company - and they still have never sent anybody to check it. Instead, they sent this jerk over to an estimator, who repaired the entire side of his car and chalked up $750 to our insurance police. Geico then cancelled our insurance policy - tripeling my son's rate with another carrier. Gee thanks Geico. And if that wasn't bad enough, while we were talking with them, they informed us that they paid another claim for $500 - without even notifying us about the claim a year ago.
We are suing this jerk in small claims court. We are doing the insurance company's job for them. We have to take the time to sue this jerk and prove to the judge that the damage was from a prior. If my son had dented his car, while it was completely stopped in its parking place, then the Geo Prism is unsafe and made out of tin foil. To make a dent in a Geo Prism, my son would have had to put his car in reverse and slam into the Geo going 25 miles per hour, causing the Geo to spin around in the parking lot. (The Geo never spun anywhere ) The police officer was so asleep at the switch, not only did she put down prior damage - she put down the wrong car. She put down another car that we own as the car in the accident. She didn't even look at our car. This is the report the insurance company based their claim on - the one that we told them in writing for three months, was wrong - and this jerk was getting money claiming fraudulent accident damages.
IF YOU HAVE GEICO INSURANCE, AND SOMEBODY FILES A CLAIM AGAINST YOU, THEY WILL PROBABLY NOT INVESTIGATE THE ACCIDENT. THEY DIDN'T EVEN TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS OR MAKE ANY EFFORT AT ALL TO EVEN LOOK AT THE VEHICLES. THEY JUST WRITE CHECKS AND CANCEL YOUR INSURANCE POLICY. I HAVE A LETTER FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT OF GEICO DIRECT TELLING ME, IN WRITING, THAT THEY DIDN'T INVESTIGATE THIS CLAIM AND THEY COULD NOT EVEN CONTACT THE OTHER DRIVER. SO, WHY DID THEY PAY HIM MONEY THEN? BEATS ME.
And as an added note: State Farm Insurance collaborated with them in the payment of the fraudulent claim, providing them with the police report. Geico didn't even get the police report on their own - they asked State Farm to do it for them.

Search TipsI do not understand why the company would just drop you like that. The last incident which was in April my car was side swiped. If that tipped the balance I guess you are not allowed to report every damage that happens to your car.
1). Most of us wouldn't have car insurance if it weren't required by law and/or auto finance companies.
2). The ones who don't have insurance (yeah, I know that's why OUR premiums are so high) don't care and drive anyway, with or without licenses, and just throw their citations into the circular file.
3). Insurance companies and ambulance-chasing lawyers go hand-in-hand (another reason why the premiums are so high).
Basically, consumers are the goose who lays the golden egg for insurance companies and lawyers. These vultures make and shape the laws, collect the money, and laugh all the way to the bank.

You ARE in the business of screwing people. There is not too much difference between Insurance Sales people and a car salesman/woman. You are percentage driven, sucking the hard earned blood money out of consumers.

Get real! The insurance "fat cats" have it all wrong and try to escalate these disinformation campaigns. That is how they make money. The Rip-off Report supports victims, and none more deserving than those victims of some of the most corrupt industries in America. ED Magedson EDitor-in-Chief
