Recently purchased packages of Northern bath issues 48 rolls 2X. After putting on the paper holder I notice it looked miniature and better being in a doll house then on the toilet paper holder.

I had an old roll left and got the ruler out and measured. Low and behold Georgia-Pacific maker of Northern Bath Tissue had reduced the height of the roll by a 1/2" and even the number of sheets have been reduced. The width of the roll is something like 1/8" narrower.

I contacted Gerogia-Pacific and they admitted reducing the role size. There product is good and they wanted to cut costs. Well they cut loose a customer. I will not accept this reduction in size. It's like the old one pound can (16oz) is now only 13-14 oz. If you keep letting them get away with this kind of crap by the time they are done you'll have to use your hand.

"

We understand you may have some concerns about the roll width and/or
sheet count of Quilted Northern Soft & Strong(r). As noted at the
bottom of the package, Quilted Northern Soft & Strong(r) is about
1/2 inch narrower than before, and we have slightly reduced the sheet
count.

Because of today's economy, cost is a factor. We made the decision
to slightly reduce the roll to bring you the bathroom tissue you trust
and not raise our price to retailers. Quilted Northern Soft & Strong
continues to provide the cleanliness and comfort you have come to expect,
making it a great value in today's economy. As always, Quilted Northern
Soft & Strong(r) is thick, absorbent, and gentle on your skin. The
bathroom tissue features strength and durability for cleanliness, with
softness and thickness for comfort. With Quilted Northern Soft & Strong
(r), you do not have to compromise comfort for clean."

I didn't say it wasn't a good product. However, the size reduction is so
significant it's not worth buying. Cut out bleaching and reduce costs
in more effective and environmentally friendly manner. They are thinking
of costs and ways to get you to buy more frequently and I am thinking of
functionality not to mention the LOOKS of such a small roll give the
impression of CHEAP toilet paper.

T.P. ripoff

AUTHOR: Chris - ()

POSTED: Thursday, January 08, 2015

Everything is a ripoff today. No more 1/2 gallon ice cream. No more(not much) 64 oz. juice. Laundry powder is way smaller(and telling us it's still the same amount of loads). I guess a sock and a shirt is a load. Lunch meat from 14-16 oz. down to 12 or 10 oz. Socks with thinner material. Cereal boxes are tons smaller. Look at the ingredients in cheese now. Kraft "American cheese" lists the first ingredient as cheddar cheese, while others list the first ingredient as whey. American cheese was "american cheese" before. It's watering down the product. It aint about production or manufacturing costs. Those are there regardless. It's the cost of doing business. This is just about pure greed. How much can we screw the consumer.

To flushed, money down the toilet...

AUTHOR: Trixlette - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 09, 2009

If they cut off, say 1" as some have done, then looking at the rolls now every 4-5 rolls that have been cut would yield another roll. Doing this to billions of rolls you see how many more rolls they would be making off the same dime. Yet charging us the same amount of money as they normally do.

Recently, at a local market in the bakery they sell these bread rolls, for small sandwiches. On the package it says 12 count, yet every bag, is only 10. Each bag being shorted by 2. For every 5 bags of these they sell, they get one free to sell. This is deceptive.

If companies "cut off", or change the product in any way to "lessen" it, it should be duly noted on the packaging. They note it when they "add" more, why is there not laws to force them to note it when they "subtract" some?

What seems like a little to one roll of tissue paper, adds up to a lotta paper in the end, when you add up how many billions of rolls of tissue they do this to. We still have to pay the same amount, for lesser product.

Who has more to spare in their bank accounts? The company, or like me a family of 11, with barely enough income to make it from month to month. We go through a lot of tissue paper every month, and we sure could use those extra rolls tht have been taken from us.

It's not just this company or this product...does anyone remember when sugar came in 5 lb bags and suddenly you notice the bags of sugar got smaller, and were now 4 lb?  Companies should put it right on the front, they have a new design with lesser paper. Or they have new packaging from 5 lb to 4 lb. , not just sneak it in till someone figures it out.

Companies that do this are costing consumers millions of dollars in totality, for product they are not receiving.

Georgia Pacific Toilet Paper ripoff by Northern

AUTHOR: Seneca - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 27, 2009

I agree with the original ripoff report.  I too noticed that the roll was smaller.  However, I had first noticed that the quality of the paper was not the same softness as it had been.  I too found an older roll of paper and I can assure you that there is a real difference between these two products.

If you have a good product, don't cheapen it, please just increase the price.  Make a lesser quality product if you want to, but don't mess with the good stuff!.

I normally don't reply but this is just too funny.  You really have that much time on, well your hands, to complain about toilet paper???  Really??? Buy a different brand and move on with your life. I'll look for you in the store ripping toilet paper packages open and counting the sheets.
