approving all repairs.
If Diane had called us for assistance first, before authorizing the repairs, we would have helped them with this claim - making sure they were given fair pricing and going over the coverage of the extended warranty with them. But Diane never gave us the opportunity, she just authorized the repairs without ever speaking to anyone first. Once we were finally notified that this repair had taken place, it was Oct. 31, 2012 and when we tried to contact Ford City in Champaign, IL to send someone out to inspect the rusted part, we were informed that the part was already gone. If there was an open claim from the warranty company, the dealership would be required to hold onto the part for inspection.
Ford City also claimed that the Turbo was rusted internally which isnt physically possible.
The Turbo Charger runs at 2,000 degrees, any water in the charger would immediately turn to steam and evaporate before the water could cause any rust damage. The only time you might see rust on a Turbo is if the truck is left outside for a long period of time with the hood open, the rubber hose disconnected and the fins exposed to moisture.
Not only that, but this dealership charged you $2,171.90 for a repair that should have only cost $1,200 plus tax! Thats a HUGE profit for this dealership, of course they are not going to want to move this repair to a warranty claim, they would lose all that profit.
If a claim had been opened with MAP Warranty, this dealership would only get $1,200. Ford City knew exactly what they were doing to you. You had only put 5,800 miles since you purchased this truck from us, so how exactly would the rust have formed in that small amount of time? But Ford City knew if they told MAP warranty there was rust the warranty company would not pay
the claim and they could over-charge you for the repairs. Ford City saw a customer coming into the
dealership with an out-of-state tag on a Friday afternoon, and they knew they could make a huge profit! We are stunned that nobody has even asked for a photo of the so-called rusty turbo? And the dealership got rid of the part! Why not keep it to show some creditability?
Approximately 3,000 miles later, you call us with an EGR cooler issue. As far as the EGR Coolers are concerned, we have all the EGR test results from your truck printed with graphs, saved as arecord that all the tests PASSED when we performed our inspection. We even provide a copy of these tests to every customer that purchases a Ford 6.0L Diesel from us. Your trucks test results showed there was only 10 pounds of coolant pressure in the system which is GREAT because the max allowed by ford is 16 pounds before you have to replace the EGR cooler. We understand the dealership gave you a quote of $4,100 to replace the EGR, Oil Cooler and Head gasket. Based on the result of your trucks inspection and tests we performed, the Head gasket should not have needed to be replaced! Dudley spent hours on the phone speaking with your mechanic informing him to fix the EGR and Oil Coolers FIRST and then re-test the Head gasket to avoid you paying for an additional $1,800 in unnecessary repairs. After replacing only the EGR and Oil Coolers, just as we had expected, your truck did NOT need new Head gaskets! By calling us prior to authorizing these repairs, we saved you $1,800 from another Ford dealership that just wanted to up-sell you
unnecessary repairs! If you had called us first for the Turbo issue, we would have done the same thing. Plus, MAP Warranty will even reimburse a rental car up to $35 for every 8 hours of labor time and $75 per day for lodging and meal expenses. By not asking for proof of the rust, you got robbed by Champaign Ford City.
