It is a scam. I called the phone number and got a voice message so I left a message. The person who called me back claimed his name is Mike Tyson, and it became obvious to me that it was a cell phone number. The letter was from Global Financial in Houston, TX, the envelope had a Canadian stamp on it, and the check was from Independent Bank and had no phone number on it.
It really looks legit at first but is NOT! The letter looks and is worded to make you think that this is for real and the check looks real but it is not legit. Do not fall victim to this scam artist. If you follow directions from this guy you will end up owing your bank $3,085!
