I Recieved a letter this week from Global International Sweepstakes. The envelope was sent out of Canada with a P.O Box as a return address, the letter head had a Elkridge,MD address on it, and the check was from Shannon Mall Investments LLC out of Union City, GA. The letter stated that I was the winner of the North American Utilities drawing held on Monday April 24th, 2008. The participants were selected through a computer ballot system, drawn from telephone numbers and utility bills. my ticket number was 1645 and serial number BR-717. The lump sum of 46,500.00 USD will be awarded to me and they sent me a check in the amount of 2812.00 to cover fees and charges that are required to be paid before they can send me the 46,500. The letter is signed HANDA TRUDEL director of public relations. Just writing in to let everyone know that this letter is going around and according to my research they send checks from different accounts. The phone numbers are different and there is no such business as the Global International World Sweepstakes. If I wasn't computer literate and not aware of scams I probably would have put this check in my bank and cashed it. Hopefully we can make this aware to some people that may not know better.
