Global Life Magazines Harrassed us for money not owed something to do with Consolidated Media Services Massena New York

First we were with "Consolidated Media Services" because my wife wanted magazines and they offered about 10 different ones for a 5 yr. subscription or something for about $500. At first I was still going to see about cancelling it because I don't read magazines, but by the time my wife told me about what she had done, when the magazines first started coming in, it had already been a month since her starting the deal. When I called CMS, they said it was after 30 days so therefore could not be cancelled. Not wanting to get irate at them or my wife for her kind-heart in the sense that she thought I would like some of the things she had got for me, I said fine, OK, whatever, she didn't let me know, we didn't read the fine print, whatever.

So we get to the end of the 5 yrs. A company now calling itself "Global Life & Mags" (one that has the same address as "Nadine Mags USA" from another post on this site -- makes you wonder who this company is....) calls saying that they took over CMS and want us to pay $60 for an automatic renewal fee where they've already renewed us for another year - they call us instead of billing us. We say "screw you", and they took it out of our joint bank account (the one the wife used to pay in the first place), so we called the BBB. We get them to give the money back and cancel the account, and magazines stop for a couple of months, then start back up again, but no bill or calls. One year later after "cancelling", now, they call again saying we owe $29.95 with nothing to show why, and if we don't pay there will be another automatic renewal and we'll have to pay more (probably the $60 again). My wife says "We're not paying" and hangs up. They call again saying the same to me, actually asking for my wife, but I get them to say why they are calling and I start trying to tell them they are full of it and they hang up on me. Great way to do business. I *69ed them, got the number, left a stern message on their voice "mailbox" I got at the number (905) 481-1148, which is actually in Ontario, Canada according to 411 under the name "Ontario Customer Service". What a joke. I'm getting the BBB involved again. Hopefully no one else is thinking about getting magazines, but if they are, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is - stay away from CMS, Global Life, Nadine Mags USA or whatever this Massena, NY based company wants to call itself.
