On June 19th, 2002 I was paying for a e-bay purchase using Paypal. In the secure purchase area of Paypal a pop-up appeared for Globalinx. I immediately closed the window, however unknown to me at the time that window had captured my charge card number. On July 11, 2002 a charge came through for $54.90. I purchase a lot of computer parts from various web sources so (it's my fault for not looking), I missed the charge.
Another $49.95 appeared on my August, 2002 statement. Again I missed that one. On September 11th, I was reviewing my statement on line when I discoved the Global-Phonelinx charge. I went back and reviewed my previous statements and discovered the other charges. The September statement was the first however to disclose a phone number, which I might add "was a phone number of a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT COMPANY:( The lady of that company was very gracious and told me what the phone number really was and said that she had been getting plastered with many many phone calls about Globalinx.
I contacted Globalinx that day (the 800 number is in Margate Florida (suburb of Ft Lauderdale). They stated they would cancel service after I stated that I had researched the incident and discovered that their pop up add had captured my charge card number. They did not deny this. They said a refund would be credited to my account within two weeks. That did not happen. I continued to call every two weeks until the middle of November.
I finally got hold of a guy in Margate that said to give it three billing cycles and there would be no problem in getting the credit applied. On December 5th, I attemped to call Globalinx and the recording informed me that I needed to call back, because the customer service line was not available due to technical difficulties. This is now December 13th, and the phone is still having technical difficulties.
In the last week I have called their corporate offices in McLean and left messages for Mr Franz Heidman President of Orion, Mr John O'Connor, Dr McNamara along with as many other of the board that I could leave a message for. I also called Paypal as well as e-bay and reported to them that their security had been breached and what had happened to me. I also called my Visa card bank and reported this company to their fraud division.
The person I talked to thought she had heard this name before. She stated that she could get me the charge for the September billing refunded to my new account but that the other two months were over the 90days. She stated that these kind of companies will put you off and put you off some more in hopes that all the billings go beyond the 90 days so nothing has to be refunded.
I am a Christian person and I am very trusting, but this has taught me a very valuable lesson. Some people are very greedy and exceedingly deceitful and Mr's Heidman, O'Connor, McNamara are a DISAPOINTMENT to me as "HUMAN BEINGS" let alone "BUSINESSMEN."
I can only "pray" that this letter along with all the others at this sight will save someone the aggravation that this has caused the rest of us. I hope the officers of this company can sleep at night. But that probably can or they would have done this to unsuspecting people.
I will not let this go either. I plan on contacting my local TV station here in West Palm Beach since the customer service area is in Margate and I plan on emailing CNN and the rest of the news networks about this bunch of con men.
