He said pay for what? and the driver said he needed $750 there. So another call from WA, I spoke to the driver and said no one had told me I would need another deposit of $750, as I had paid a deposit on May 14. Then the driver asked my contact to sign an new contract for $.63 per pound, so my contact called me again and asked if that was what I had agreed to. I said no, the Binding Not To Exceed Contract stated $.45 per pound. Now I am kinda upset, since they are driving a Penske Moving Van, and I was under the assumption it would be a Globe Moving Van, so there was no way I was going to pay $750 to someone as far as I knew was hijacking my load. I called customer service again- she was going to call the dispatcher and discuss the rate and call me back. She did not call back. The driver however did call twice more insisting on $750, which I refused to pay They finished loading the truck, then drove it to Tacoma, where it would be unloaded and loaded onto another truck to come cross country. I called on Sunday and Gabby did not know where my items were or when they would be here. On Monday I finally get ahold of Julian again. He said the drivers sometimes write a new contract if they think the load will exceed the weight estimate. I reminded him that I only had two pieces of furniture and some boxes and misc items. So he said he would call dispatch and let them know to keep the .45 per pound. I asked if I could pay the balance on arrival with a credit card, since no one seemed to know the actual balance due. He said he would make a note and forward to the dispatcher, and to call him back on Wednesday to see if he could get a handle on where the truck was, when delivery would be, and the balance due. I waited until Thursday to call, at which time he said the items were still in Tacoma waiting for another load to fill the truck. He did not know when they would be delivered, but said dispatch would call me on Friday and let me know. I asked about the weight of the load, but he had already hung up.
On Friday (yesterday) no word from the dispatch, customer service or Julian. At 10:00 PM I received a call from Amar of Amar Express Moving, stating that he was driving my load to Nebraska sometime next week. He wanted to make sure I had the balance due so I could have cash or Post Office Money Order. I said Julian ok'd a payment by credit card upon delivery. He said no, that would not work since he has no way to process credit cards, and I needed cash or MO. I figured I would give in on that point, since it was a bank debit card anyway. He then told me the balance was $1380. Well since the quote was $1500 and I had already paid the deposit, I questioned why the balance was higher (by nearly $300). He said there was a charge for "packaging" (which, according to my contract and the company website stated was included in the price). Then he asks if he can get an 18 wheeler of 70+ ft up to the door of the house. I said no, because I don't think any 70+ truck could make a turn into a residental driveway. The driveway is 100' from road to house door. The driver said well that would not work but we could arrange for a shuttle, which would be an additional $50. Still trying to make the best of a strange and stressful situation, we offered to meet the driver on the main highway with a truck and trailer of our own. Now, this means we will drive the load to the house, unload it ourselves, and assemble the furniture. (keep in mind- was included in the cost of the move)..
So the driver tells me to have a nice weekend and he will see us next week, I told him to drive carefully and also to have a good weekend. at 10:30 PM Abraham the dispatcher calls me. He said he had talked to the driver and there seems to be some discrepancies in the cost of the move. I said yes there are, as I have a contract for $1500, to include the packing materials, Door to Door service, and they were two days late to pick up my load, and now not only has the delivery price gone up, and the door to door service out the window and I have paid out of pocket for the people waiting two days to let the movers into my storage unit I was not happy. So he starts telling me that I have signed a contract for an additional $260 for packing materials, fuel surcharge, etc. I said no I did not sign a contract for that, the only thing I have is the Not to Exceed Binding contract based on 3000 lbs, and the load weighs (so they say) 2800 lbs, and do they expect me to pay an additional $300 for the convenience of taking our own load off their truck, hauling it home, and unloading it ourselves? Abraham then starts getting angry and said he was not going to have this conversation with me at that time and he would call Julian and have him call me. I asked when that might happen since I can not get Julian to call me back or return my emails. Then very angrily Abraham asked just what would it take to make me happy?? I said, following the terms of the contract price and door to door delivery seemed like a good place to start. He said "fine! what is your original quote?" I told him, and the deposit amount, and what I felt the balance should be. Keep in mind, the load weighed less than the original quote and the packaging was to be included.
He then starts shouting me at over the phone- "Great- pay the $1163 when they deliver. Will you be paying with cash or MO?" I said I will pay with a Postal MO. he said " Are you happy now?? You are the big winner of door number 2!! You got your way! Are you happy now that you are the winner of door number 2??" I said "winner?? I have a Binding Not to Exceed Contract that I am asking you to honor." He continued ranting about how I was the big winner and was I happy now and "yeah, you have a contract, uh huh." I hung up. I have NEVER been verbally abused to that extent by anyone in a customer service department, and especially when I merely asked him to abide by the terms of the contract.
Now, I realize that Julian (or Josh or Hank or whoever he goes by now), along with Gabby (or Abby) and Abraham could read this report prior to my delivery and it could be "lost" or completely trashed prior to next week. However, if this prevents just one other person from using this company ( and I used the term loosely), then it will have been worth it. I have never seen such a bait and switch scam in my life, and at 54 yrs old, I have seen alot. I will update this post with the results of my delivery, and will follow up with the BBB and an attorney if everything is not delivered as promised.

You have also conveniently forgotten about me - the original person of the post.
I gave you my Move Quote Reference number- you have all my information, name, address and phone number. I have NOT heard from you, as you stated.
In addition to broken items; a pink antique carnival glass candy dish, tower fan, amethyst antique vase, and two pictures, I did NOT receive :
4 wheel moving cart
2 wheel moving dolly
box of personal items
box of three framed art pieces
boxed (original box) foot spa
canopy rod for queen bed
I DID however obtain a navy and wine colored braided rug that does not belong to me. It should not have been difficult to keep my items all together, since they were all in an 8 x 8 storage unit. When the unit was EMPTY, all of my items were on the truck. How they got lost on a truck from there to here is beyond me.
As far as signing papers not read or fully understood - Mohmar of AMAR Trucking who was hired by you to deliver my items - handed me three papers to sign when he got out of the truck. He asked if that was my signature on the pick up papers, it was NOT. It wasn't even MY NAME. I asked to see if the items were mine prior to signing a paper that stated I HAD RECEIVED ALL ITEMS, and he said NO. I asked why I would sign a paper stating I had all of my items when I had not been allowed to even see inside the truck yet. He said "your items are in there." I asked if he could describe some of them to me since I wasn't allowed to look at them. He said " alot of stuff and two scooters." I do not think I was being UNREASONABLE OR HARD TO GET ALONG WITH by wanting to verify that I did in fact have my things. However, I was denied, and he would not open the truck lock until the papers were signed. When I asked for a copy of the papers, all I got was the first page with the amount of CASH I had to pay (again prior to seeing anything of mine).
Again, repeating myself, my load weighed in at 200 lbs LESS than the quote. Your dispatcher Abraham was beyond rude, and your customer service rep Julian did not return my phone calls or emails after the truck was loaded.
You talk alot of talk about how your company is being abused. Grow up and put on your big boy pants. Take some responsibility for the crappy way people are being treated. I am sick to death of having to prove I am a real customer. I gave you the reference number. CHECK IT OUT.

This is an example of someone that if there stuff were to get delayed by HIS attitude, everyone would want to help him HENCE why he probably had a GOOD move...Its very simple, people treat you the way you treat them..Customers take advantage of the whole"Customer is always right.." saying and feel they can belittle our reps or movers because they do not speak english, or sweat when they are lifting heavy furniture, its easy to blame everyone but yourself..
Thanks for at least being fair on your reply and understanding.

A real Example of Why Globe is a SCAM
AUTHOR: DO NOT USE GLOBE MOVING - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Monday, July 11, 2011
My email sent after numerous days of no responses:
Julian,
Today was the last day in the window your provided me that my belongings were supposed to arrive in California. Im assuming your "boss" is still on vacation? I must say this is the worst business experience I have ever been involved in. I have tried to speak to customer service and dispatch and of course, they say they will "look into things and call back" and proceed to never call back and never answer my repeat phone calls. There has been 6 reports in the last 2 months to the BBB pertaining to the way Globe does business. The reports basically state scam, unethical, theft, damaged goods, etc. I was informed that the company is now being investigated. FINALLY!
When I piece it together, it was actually a pretty well planned out scam.....
1- quote customer over the phone - they sign
2- load all customer belongings in a truck on moving day-THEN tell customer the cost will be double and to sign another agreement that mirrors the initial agreement with the exception of cubic feet instead of lbs. (The Globe rep. adds in that the salespeople always do this and they just want to save us $$)
3-NO COMMUNICATION FROM GLOBE MOVING FORWARD- wont return calls or take accountability for anything
4-Customer reads fine print in new agreement that states belongings could now take up to 21 days after latest requested move date
5- THE GRAND FINALE- take cash only on delivery. How could you take any other form of payment? Customer wouldnt pay after the nightmare Globe put them through. They would simply stop payment.
*The KEY is to take advantage of the customer at at time when the are most vulnerable and emotional...DURING A MOVE ACROSS THE COUNTRY!!
This move will end up costing us thousands of $$$$ in hotel expense, business expense, lost time and lastly grief. Feel free to forward to your boss when he returns....
Good Day,
My Name
FROM MY GLOBE SALES PERSON JULIAN
Listen,
I do not appreciate you calling me a scammer, all I did was try to help you out. I will no longer assist you on this situation, you are absoletly wrong about this "Process" and I did not partake in any of this...
but here are a few questions you might want to think about...
How did my carrier know that your husbadn would sign the new agreement?
Why did you stick to the original agreement and have the truck weighted....?
Have I NOT offered to help you as much as I can at the same time talk to Chris (who is NOT back yet) about helpin you on this move...
Think about it, I do not have time to defend myself for stuff I have NOT done, contrary to your belief the majority of my moves have gone excellent!
Good Luck!

By not seeing the items, the mover also has the ability to escape the binding NTE estimate a whole lot easier. Even a legit mover can challenge the amount of a binding NTE estimate if the amount of goods to be moved appears to materially exceed the estimate. Simply having a binding NTE quote therefore means nothing with a less than reputable mover. So when the consumer wanted to have the mover abide by the terms and conditions of the move....the contract the consumer signed was already null and void by that point.
Insofar as what happens at delivery, suffice it to say there will be damage. Expect the settlement to be non-satisfactory ($0.60 per pound, if the claim isn't denied due to packing by owner) but then that's what happens when the consumer decides to sign up with an online mover. There is little an attorney is going to be able to do either; an attorney will be limited by Federal Law that only allows the attorney to sue for amounts per the contract and not more. You won't get replacement value - of that there is no doubt.
Online movers make it seem like full service moving is cheap. It isn't. Moving is quite expensive and reputable movers only make about 5% profit or less on each move. So when a reputable mover quotes one amount, and an online mover quotes 20%-50% less, the scam is about ready to be sprung on someone. Scam movers in the end, will cost you far more than a reputable mover in terms of damaged items, stress, increased packing and pricing, etc... Best of luck to you.

I am a REAL customer
AUTHOR: osbeachbum - (USA)
SUBMITTED: Friday, July 01, 2011
Not only was the price changed to a higher amount and the load weighed less than quoted, my BINDING NOT TO EXCEED quote INCLUDED the following:
* Disassembly and Re-assembly of any Standard Furniture
* All Loading and Unloading
* Door to door, Pickup & Delivery
Do these statements look familiar, because I am quoting from the Moving Quote I have in my hand.
Disassembly and Re-assembly: My items were already dis-assembled and in an 8 x 8 storage unit.
NOTHING was re-assembled.
All loading and unloading: Only if you want your items unloaded in a vacant parking lot.
Door to door, Pickup & Delivery: HAHAHA. Once my items were transferred in Tacoma, the driver stated he had a 70 foot semi and could not make the turns to our home, let alone up the driveway. We had to meet him in a parking lot, where he unloaded the items to OUR pickup and trailer, then stated that we needed to stack the items on the trailer, since he ONLY unloads - not stacks. Then it was up to us to drive the load to our home where we unloaded TO THE DOOR ourselves. (Keep in mind, that was included in the price, but did we get a DISCOUNT since that could not be fulfilled??) NO. However, the driver did state that if we wanted him to come to our DOOR and unload the items it would cost another $500+. Or we could pay $500+ for it to be shuttled to our door in a smaller truck.
Since you are the owner, and have the nerve to discredit me as a paying customer, I am sure you have access on your computer to look up my order number and find I AM REAL and I AM VERY VERY UPSET with your whole operation.
Reference Number: G391170
I also have the license plate number of the moving truck, and three witnesses.
Would have been nice if you got involved in this mess earlier and had Julian, Abraham and the driver all on the same page with my BINDING QUOTE and what it INCLUDED.
PS. My Oscellating Tower Fan is busted. And note to the Carpenter Family - part of your load was taken out of the truck onto the parking lot, looked like an item rolled onto the parking lot and under the truck, hope you get it. If not, I would be happy to go back to the parking lot to look for it, as I have morals, and I won't even charge you for the time and effort.

but its also up to the customer to understand the pricing method of how they will be charged, its actuall a very easy concept and if you have a good estimator that takes the time to explain it, well then you should not have any issues, if the customer gives a pretty detailed list of the heavy items going and the estimator does a good job at overestimating the items, then there is NO reason why the customer should weight more...BUT if the customer brings 30-40 more boxes then originally indicated then what can you really expect..
Bottom line is some people want something for nothing and when they do not get it, they complain, it is impossible to please everyone but being in this industry and taking our job serious...We certainly try, I do not know who this customer is or if your even a real customer, if so I challenge you to contact me at GLOBE and lets discuss how you paid more then what was originally quoted after reviewing your weight tickets and the quote you were given and I assure you that somewhere along the line you added much more items then you originally indicated...Guaranteed.
We only charge the same price per pound whether you go over or under the reserved weight. Other companies charge you a penalty.
I am certain this "Review" is just another company trying to discourage customers in using our service because our price per pound is better then most brokers and we are not even brokers, we just do not feel like we need to charge a customer a commision as brokers do (BINDING ESTIMATE FEE)...
Thats the real difference.
