I am slighly confused by your complaint. I attempted to purchase a domain name through GoDaddy.com, and it was available. I didn't register it immediately. I went back 4 days later and it was still available. GoDaddy, or any other company, hadn't swooped in and purchased it and then tell me I had to pay ridiculous amounts of money to own it. I registered it then, no issues. I've also come across searching a domain, finding it available as a Premium Domain name. Wanting to know what this was, I called. They explained to me that someone else had purchased the domain name, but was willing to sell it for a price. This is perfectly legal. Using the Whois service, I found out that the owner was listed as Domains By Proxy, which is GoDaddy's privacy registration service. It does not mean that they own it. I think you may have misunderstood what was occurring. The domains you searched for were probably listed as available as a Premium Domain name. I think your conspiracy theory is a little far fetched. If GoDaddy were to do this to every customer, or even just a few, they would never make any money because honestly, the majority of people are not willing to pay what you are mentioning. And I tried your theory of searching a domain name multiple times. It did not come back as purchased after 13 searches over a 2 day span. With the amount of people in the world, I find it hard to believe that you are the only person in the world searching for that domain name. If you want a domain and don't buy it immediately, there is no guarantee that it will be available the next day. I feel like you may be a little angry that you dropped the ball and someone else had your "original" idea. But that's my personal opinion. I understand that you may be angered by it, or disagree, and that is fine. But the theory that a company that makes so much money is trying to steal from you seems far fetched. I have never contacted or worked with a company that was so caring and helpful and I just wanted to let that be known.

I think I checked into a similar website (or maybe it was this one?) and they wanted to sell me the name I had created. Do you know of a legitimate domain website that will allow you to register your website name?
