Well, I have never used the domains, went online to cancel them, discovered the auto renew feature and tried to click on it to disable. Well, it doesn't have a disable option - you are required to unregister your domains through GoDaddy prior to them canceling your auto renew. They require a copy of your drivers license and a copy of other documents that should not be necessary in canceling or non-renewing a service from a service provider. I have sent numerous documents to them and they still refuse to cancel my service. The last straw is them requiring confirmation letter from the IRS for my EIN (how many people can find their original confirmation letter?). I called the IRS since you can't do that online, the wait time was 30 minutes. Now, why can't GoDaddy accept my Certificate of Filing from the State of Texas, or the IRS electronic tax payment confirmation letter, or accept the Texas Comptrollers Franchise Tax Notice - all of which have my companies name and EIN or State Tax ID #(all of which I have sent and which they have denied as acceptable forms of paperwork in order to cancel).
I have heard many other complaints regarding the auto-renewal issue and the effort that you have to go through to cancel the service.
I am interested in starting or participating in a class action suit for Deceptive Trade Practices.

Search TipsIt appears that GoDaddy is having problems verifying that you are in fact a person who is authorized to make that change. Without knowing ALL of the details it is hard to say if they are doing anything wrong. But think about this, if the "shoe was on the other foot" and someone was trying to take your domain away you would be gratefull that they are trying to verify the identity.
