GoDaddy Falsely advertisizes the hosting plans.

I am a web developer and my client had me develop their web site. His preference was was to use GoDaddy and their hosting company. In checking their plans, I recommended their Deluxe Hosting plan which supported both PHP and ASP pages for Windows.

The site was developed in PHP but we could not get it to run. When I checked the account on GoDaddy, I noticed that the account was setup with ASP only. I talked to the support guys at GoDaddy and was told that I needed to upgrade to a different plan and also switch to a Linux platform! This is despite what is very clearly stated on their own website!

Stay the heck away from this company !!

godaddy; bob parsons is such a hypocrite i wouldnt trust anything

they claim. he purports to support freedom of speech and liberty as his "controversial" bimbo super bowl boobermercial, yet if they host your website and you express your own opinion (anti occupation of Iraq for example) he will force the siteholder to remove what is against his neocon politics or will disable the site altogether, censorship in its purest form. profiteering from all types of disgusting pornography, killing pet rabbits and bimbos on tv is free speech and is vital to democracy, disagreeing with his political opinions is not and will be dealt with by censorship. choose other host companies and avoid his fascist opinions.

Domains by Proxy

AUTHOR: Jason - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, September 10, 2005

I run a website for a nationally syndicated radio show. I use the Domains by Proxy feature because I don't particularly want my contact information out there, because odds are that I would have some nut either calling, e-mailing or dropping by my house.

primary purpose of the privacy option is to prevent spammers and other nefarious types from getting registrant personal contact info

AUTHOR: Mark - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 09, 2005

Larry,

Along with GoDaddy.com, do you hate Network Solutions and all the other domain sellers that offer the same type of privacy option?

The primary purpose of the privacy option is to prevent spammers and other nefarious types from getting registrant personal contact info (name, address, phone number, email) from a whois lookup.

Of course criminals and terrorists could make use of the privacy option, but Domains by Proxy and others have procedures in place for Law Enforcement or courts to obtain registrant information when there's a formal investigation or a subpoena - go look at the bottom of the front page of the Domains by Proxy website.

As for the person holding his pet rabbit 'hostage' for donations, the incident might have been in poor taste, but unless you're anthropomorphically disturbed, I don't think it's a crime to turn your pet rabbit into a meal and I don't think the Police were looking to find this person and save the rabbit.

One more reason to hate GoDaddy

AUTHOR: Larry - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 09, 2005

GoDaddy is the owner of Domains by Proxy.

The whole purpose of Domains by Proxy is to allow the owner of a website to conceal his identity.

Who needs this service? Scam artists and other criminals using the Internet for unlawful uses. Osama Bin Laden is quite likely one of the clients of Domains by Proxy and GoDaddy.com. He raises money for his activities through on-line credit card frauds.

Remember the guy who threatened to kill and eat his pet rabbit if you did not send him money? His website was registered through Domains by Proxy, a subsidiary of GoDaddy.com. True to their word, Domains by Proxy refused to identify the rabbit-murderer.

Honest people should steer clear of GoDaddy.com as this company aids international terrorists.

GoDaddy.com Rip Off

AUTHOR: Pk - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 09, 2005

Why don't you simply say what you stated in your advertisement. Where does it say that PHP only runs in safe mode. As for that idiot Tom or whoever the hell he is - I don't think I should get everything for free. I paid for the Deluxe hosting plan with Windows and ASP/PHP support. So shut the F&CK up and mind your own GOD d**n business!!!!

GoDaddy has GOOD SERVICE

AUTHOR: Tom - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 08, 2005

I have over 20 DOMAIN NAMES registered with GoDaddy. Many of them I have transferred from another registrar. While I had 1 site using one of their hosting plans for awhile, I have not noticed anything misleading about their advertising. They are somewhat of a SALES TYPE organization. But there support has been helpful, prompt & responsive. From the previous response, I believe you are a GEEK HEAD that thinks everything should be FREE on the internet. Well you get what you pay for. And overall I still believe GoDaddy has good value for the services they sell.

Deluxe Hosting and PHP support

AUTHOR: Office Of The President - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 08, 2005

Dear Sir or Madam,

Our Deluxe hosting plan with ASP does provide support for PHP, however the PHP implementation runs in safe mode. The version of PHP is 4.3.10. It is possible that any issues that you experienced with PHP were due to the fact that PHP runs in safe mode. If so, the recommendation to move to a Linux platform would have resolved those issues; the PHP implementation on Linux does not run in safe mode. We apologize for any frustration that the situation caused. Please feel free to contact us if you feel that there are issues that we may be able to resolve further.
