I am writing this letter because we are buying a truck from Good-Year Motor in Houston and twice now after we have made a payment on our truck to have deactivate on a Sunday when there is no one there to turn our car back on. How can it be ethical to take a payment and turn off a vehicle on a day there is no one there to resolve the issue. I have called several times and left several messages and nothing. The last time this happened I did get a call back on the Sunday. As a mother on Sundays I do grocery shopping. Also my husband has to leave for work at 3:30 am if they don't open until 9:00 am Monday how is he suppose to drive to work? Do you think they would be understanding that he missed a day? No! They will want their payment meaning I will have less money to feed my children that week.

What do you do in a situation like this? I don't have the money to pay off my truck or put a down payment on another one.Words can not express how upset I am. I don't know what else I can do at this time. We are living paycheck to paycheck like most people, and to have our only transportation not working due to the company it is being purchased from is devastating. I would hate to think that there is possibly other people that this company is doing this too. I don't know what to do. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Refinance through your local credit union

AUTHOR: FloridaNative - ()

Since you have all the receipts showing you paid on time, go to your local credit union and refinance your truck. You will have to bring each and every receipt showing you paid on time since the dealership is going to show you are late.  Once your current lender is paid off you can then have the device removed from your vehicle that allows them to shut off your truck.

Also, it will save you 160 miles every two weeks (80 miles each way) to make your payments to your current lender.

The credit union will have a much better interest rate and terms and you will be able to make your payments online in advance. Your payment will probably be much lower to the CU.  Not only that, but you will save a lot of money in interest payments with a refinance because I am sure your current interest rate is very, very high. It always is with these types of dealers.

Because you chose to buy a vehicle from this subprime dealer, there is a very good chance your truck is upside down so you will probably have to bring extra money to the credit union to put together with the new loan to get the previous lender paid off.

If you don't have the extra funds to pay off your vehicle now, and you can't refinance with a credit union, then do what you have to do to get the extra funds to pay down your loan to allow the refinance. The longer you are in a subprime loan, the more it costs you.

Next time, don't shop these types of dealers for your truck. They always charge much, much more for the vehicle than it is worth - even more than a regular dealership.

I make the payments on time

AUTHOR: DeeAnna - ()

I pay my bills! the reason we went to this dealership was not finace issues. We love our truck. It was what we wanted and needed for our children. We saw it online and drove over 80 miles to get there because of the truck not that they would finace us because there were other places closer that I was approved. My thing is I make my payments ON TIME and TWICE have had them shut my truck off. I have never had problems making payments and if I was ever going to be late I would call them and talk to them. The issue is this... they turn off someones anyones car on a day that it can't be fix personaly most businesses would wait until Monday or do it on Saturday.

Again my credit is no ones business but mine. Even if i had "shaky" credit does that mean I am less of a person than someone with perfect credit? We are hard working people. My husband works 6 days a week I am in school we have 5 children between us. Nothing was ever handed to us. I have been on my own since I was 14 I have always had 2 or 3 jobs at a time to support myself and my children. I would expect them to turn off the truck if I didn't make the payment. The fact is I made it.

I am not looking for pitty from anyone. I am letting people know what this company is duing to people.

Hey Dee Dee Annie...

AUTHOR: Jim - ()

It is YOUR car.  It is YOUR name on the contract.  It is YOU who is responsible for the payment!  If YOU don't want to deal with the collections efforts, there's a very, very simple, easy-to-understand remedy...PAY YOUR BILLS ON TIME!  But as we see here, YOU are dealing with a subprime dealership because no bank wants to deal with YOU.

YOU created this situation by developing a documented reputation of NOT paying your bills on time BEFORE this.  Now, here we are again and poor Dee Dee CONTINUES to not pay her bills on time.  What a surprise that is.  Perhaps some day if we all hope and pray you will realize everybody else isn't the cause of YOUR problems!  Nope.  I don't work for them.

BAD CREDIT???

AUTHOR: DeeAnna - ()

and as far as my credit that is none of your business. However what you are saying is that if someone has bad credit they deserve to be treated like garbage? So if my credit is bad people can do what ever they want? So that is wonderful they get to treat customers bad as long as their credit is as you say "shaky" to me it sounds like you work there or are real close to someone that does.

Since your credit history is obviously shaky, Here's what you can do to prevent this from happening again....

AUTHOR: Ken - ()

" I don't know what to do. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated."

Pay your payment ON TIME, EVERY TIME and not on a non-business day...that is YOUR doing, not theirs.

No need to thank me for this good advice.  Try it, it works.
