In early February I was contacted via phone by Jay ID#208, who offered to sell me a "guaranteed" credit card for the cost of $189.00 + $29.95. He stated the interest rate would be between 4% & 6% along with a credit of $5,000. I told him that it sounded unlikely, but he reinerated that his company had the ability to offer this special deal.
I made him repeat a few different times exactly what I was purchasing. He stated "a credit card." He went into detail telling me that Gotec would be debiting my checking account in 14 days, and then I would recieve a package in the mail. There would be an authorization form, in which I was to sign and return. He stated that I would only receive my card once the money was debited from my account and the "authorization form" was recieved back from them.
He then went into detail about how to log onto their website http://www.gfilinks.com/ and entering in my passcode (which would be sent in the 1st package) and verification code (which was supplied in my initial conversation). This process would be the final step in obtaining my new credit card.
After a few weeks, I received a package containing a book and a CD on "how to fix your credit", but no credit card. I then called back and Jason explained that all I need to do is use my passcode and go on line, then I would recieve my credit card. I told him that I did not want this book. He told me that it is part of the deal, but that I would still be getting my credit card.
I did make a claim that day with Jason about the original offer that I was told about. He said that the limit on the card would probably not be $5000, but that I was still guaranteed a card. Jason said they will do an "investigation" on Jay to see if he is telling anyone else this lie because he had never heard of someone giving this information out before.
While on line, I realized that this was basically a search engine of a whole bunch of credit cards. When I chose one, which Jason referred me to, I filled out the banks application. This felt funny to me, because nothing was mentioned that would tie Gotec to the bank to show that I was "guaranteed" a card. I called back and "to my surprise got Jason again". I asked him how I would get my credit card if I wasn't able to tell them Gotec guaranteed it for me. He gave me a lie about the internet site being connected? Anyway, 2 weeks later, I called again & spoke to Jason's neighbor to find out what happened on the claim that I filed on Jason. She said "Oh, they listened to the tapes and did not find anything".
This is not done by an independant source, therefore it cannot be without bias. I have spoken to a few different people they have shuffled me around to who all say the same thing: "On the tape, you agreed to the terms", we told you once you sign up on line, you cannot get a refund, but really, when you call in, they tell you there is no refund regardless! I have even spoken to Leesa King, who is no help at all.
My lawyer has done some investigating on this company. We struggled with going after my money or finding an attorney who deals in class action suits to take on this case for others who would like to get a refund of their money. I am choosing to file a CLASS ACTION SUIT, which may take some time, even years, but will force GOTEC to adhere to the courts decision if we win. Please contact me by using the rebuttal box below.
If you cannot join me in a suit, see if a lawyer in your local city will do this on a pro-bono basis. They do it all the time, I worked at a major law firm and I am fortunate to have lawyers at my disposal for free. If I am not able to find anyone else for a class action suit, then my lawyer will move forward with my case.
