I got a call frm a representative of this co. at 7 p.m. est, someone called Soumya, rep id 409187, saying that as a good taxpayer, I am entitled to a govt grant of at least $5,000. She gave me my name and the address, and asked me for what purpose would my grant be, and after 15 minutes of talking to me, (since I was expecting something fraudulent, I was a little belligerent), she tried to convince me to pay $199.95 towards 'fee' for getting the govt grant.
I asked her if she could confirm if everyone who applied had received the grant, and she said yes, all the success stories would be sent to me as a registered mail by the 16th of Dec. I kept wondering, 'where's the catch?', when she finally asked me, 'do u hv a checking or a current a/c?'. BINGO! I immediately asked her to send me the information and only if I wanted to, would I go ahead a file an applicaton for the grant. She said without the bank info, she would be unable to send me the application, which is when I got angry and told her to stop wasting my time and hers, since I would NOT give my info on the phone.
She kept asking why, when I told her that I have heard of other scams (especially companies frm Florida), she said, 'trust me, why would I try to withdraw money frm ur bank without your approval?' Did she think I was born yesterday?
Anyway, PLEASE stay away frm all people demanding your personal details over the phone.
