To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter to inform you of my no so grand experience with Grand Crowne Resorts. This all started with a visit to Branson Missouri. Someone called me about a vacation stay, I thought we were staying at the resort, but instead were placed in a local hotel, that I would never stay at again. Upon our Arrival we met with Barry, a very pushy and with a not so clever sales pitch that can be seen from a mile away along with his tacky Hawaiian shirt.  It was quite amusing actually. He became angry when we were not going to buy the initial package he showed us. We knew that a lower package or trial offer would be offered, and we were holding out for that, as we were sincerely interested in trying out Grand Crown Resorts at that time.  Mr. Bill Waites came over to our table to speak with us. He was much more friendly and by far a great salesmen. However he threw in the kitchen sink with the adventure package deal. He told us if we ever need anything to let him know, and have us his cell phone number. He also told us that he would give us a free room upgrade when we use our package. Sounds great right? Thats what I thought too.

So we finally decide that we want to visit Pigeon Forge for our family vacation. I call to book our stay at the Lodges of the Great Smokey Mountains. I was told how great this was by the person who booked me, and how we would have a view, and hot tub.

Later I receive the paperwork for the trip. I did not look at it much I saw the confirmation number, and a map to the Lodge included. Finally at the beginning of November I took the paperwork out to share with my In-Laws our vacation plans, as they were considering booking also. This is when I saw that I was booked for Eagles Ridge. I called that night and spoke with Mr. Bill Waites. He assured me that it was a mistake and he would take care of us. He even referred to it as Eagles Buzzard Ridge. I called him each day for a week, and each time he told me he was working on it. Day after day the same story, finally in the second week of being promised the stars I called and spoke with reservations. They told me we were booked for only a one bedroom, and that there was no way to get into the Lodge. I told them that Bill said he would get us in.  They refused. I called back the next day and spoke with Ema, she was polite and apologetic to the situation. She knew we had been done wrong. She stated that there was nothing that we could do besides cancel. She let me know that I also could not use the discounts mentioned in my contract at the Eagles Ridge, since I was not affiliated, but it is affiliated enough for me to be STUCK there rather than the actual Grand Crowne Lodge. Oh about that FREE room upgrade mentioned above, that was not honored either, I was told that I would need to pay $500. No thanks.

So I finally came to terms with the fact that your company scammed me into thinking I was getting one thing, and I got another. I believe that is what they call the bait and switch. This is not professional and not conducive to business or gaining referral business. As a general rule of thumb for the sales field, salesmen should never promise something they cannot deliver. Customers DO remember what they are told, and will hold people to their word. I was sold a worthless piece of paper that did nothing for me but give me a headache. I right now can book a wonderful cabin for a week in Gatlinburg for about 700.00, no presentation, pushy sales people, just a good time with a hot tub, and pool table included.  I know this because I have stated in Gatlinburg before.  So I paid almost $1000.00 to be placed somewhere I could have gone for less, and would not have been lied to like your company has done. By the way, Eagles Ridge did upgrade my cabin, no thanks to your company or staff. I called them directly and let them know the situation, and they were HAPPY to help me.

I no longer have any desire to purchase anything from Grand Crowne. Matter of fact if you paid me to take it off your hands, I would turn it down. Also, with your adventure program, why would I buy into your resorts when I have not had the privilege of experiencing them? Thats a great question, I know. I guess that decision should be made based on the best you can show me on a tour right? HA, no thanks!  I believe that customer service is KEY, and what this company has displayed is rudeness, lying, and non-existent customer service. Congratulations! You have managed to adequately convey and portray the typical stereotypes of the timeshare world. While others have improved you are light-years behind. So you may be thinking, big deal we missed one sale. If you continue these business practices you WILL MISS MANY MANY MORE!  Word of mouth is the best way to gain and lose business. If anyone asks me about your company I will be happy to let them know my story and frustration. I would like to save others from falling into your TRAP.

Now I have just returned from my trip. Upon arrival to our cabin, I was optimistic and ready to put this whole situation to bed and have a good time. However, arriving tired and ready for some R&R, I was unable to go to bed. There was hair on the pillows on the bed, and the blanket provided to sleep with looked like it was 20 years old, and had NEVER been washed. My pets at home have nicer blankets to sleep on. So I called, and they brought me fresh sheets and pillow cases, and I had to go buy blankets to use in the cabin at Wal-Mart. I could not believe the condition of the linins.  There were dirty dishes in the cabinets, and dust everywhere. I thought I was on vacation until I had to clean a whole cabin to make it livable.  There was no luxury to this trip whatsoever! Everything in this cabin was outdated, old, and dirty. So we cleaned up, and decided to not let it ruin our fun.  Luckily my In-Laws booked with a DIFFERENT resort, and we hung out there when we were not out and about.
Thankfully the only benefit we had from this experience was the fact that your sales people had nothing to say, or no sales pitch that could overcome our experience when we went for our presentation. We were very friendly and honest. We discovered on our tour that the reason we were not placed in the Lodges of the Great Smokey Mountains, is due to the fact that there are only a few buildings complete. That would have been nice to know from the gate. So weve been lied to, cheated, and placed in a second rate accommodations. We have yet to experience your resorts or grander.
