Grand Discovery Travel has contracted with a call center to "sell" memberships. They are distributing cards advertising FREE cruises. They state that there are absolutely NO COSTS associated. First thing they do is to verify the telephone # you are calling in from so that they can enter your name into a "approved call list" and then who knows what that "subcontracted" company does with it from there (Some call centers sell them or use them to call you on additional "clients" behalf). To protect yourself, call from a phone where you block your outgoing number or give them area code + 555-1212 (this is the general INFORMATION number so that they don't actually have YOUR #).
They then ask for a confirmation # that they then tie your telephone # against. There is a $95 "member fee" and you are not told what they are actually "supposedly giving away). It appears that you may even be asked to attend seminars in order to receive anything "FREE".
There are good travel agencies around but trying to build a business by hiring one of these mass market call centers to collect names and numbers, marital status, income levels, etc BEFORE they will tell you ANYTHING about the offer is IMHO "sleezy". Do yourself a favor and call YOURSELF instead of having one of these 'canned' mass calling operations do this on your behalf. I for one am throwing away ANY solicitation (FREE or not) from such a company. Sorry that I wasted 15 minutes of my time today on this but felt that others need to know that this is NOT some mom & pop organization trying to build business.
