We have just returned from a vacation in the Mayan Riviera, and I felt compelled to add these comments because although we did not buy, every trick, ruse and remarkable lie mentioned in all the posts were used to try to sell us this "real estate" (time share or point system ppears to be pass., now they are selling real estate. We spent 4 hours with 6 different "sales rpresentatives", each becoming increasingly aggressive. We were basically called idiots for not buying. The price came down from about $45,000 to $7,000 for 2 weeks/2 bedroom lock-off for 100 years plus the value of trading in our existing timeshare. We were promised rental income ($1,800 per week), two for one (for all sorts of accommodations including suites in Paris and London), extra weeks for 10 years just for the rental market, and were told how lucrative this investment would be. We thankfully walked away because we really could no longer believe any of the promises and could not stand the constant badgering and passive aggressive behaviour when we had listened and said no. We were not given our "gifts" except for the free all-inclusive week with RCI. Guess what, we can't access the site with the ID and password provided. We did go into town to claim the promised tequila bottle...
But the real reason I had to write is that after looking at all the posts, I had to respond to the lovely "Customer Report Representative", Karen Rose, who is surely aware of the sales practices but still has the nerve to state the following in reply to people who have been ripped off for many thousands of dollars:
"Please bear in mind that as stated in your contract, the company makes no representations regarding the market for vacation ownership rentals, nor recommends buying this product for rentals or investment. Not only is this included twice within the body of the contract, but it is also included in the summary outline which you initialed more than once. I would be happy to send you a copy of this legal binding agreement in which you acknowledge and release the company of anything related to the rental process."
I guess it does not matter what you say to people, over and over again, only what you bully them into signing. Shame on you and all the staff.
