I was told that once I initialed the contract then cancellation was impossible, no rights of recission.  I was told that I would be doing a lot of dating, but have done none.  I was not told that where the meetings took place would be very costly and very expensive on top of the $3,300.00 membership fee for a 3 year period.

This is supposed to be a match-making/dating site, however, there is no dating going on.  Indiana law gives at least a 30 right to cancel and there is no cancellation agreement within the contract at all.  They even found me a credit card card company with 0% interest for 12 months as further enticement.

Tracey Varana-Ray told me that the men were upset because there were no women to date.  A lot of the men live out of state and visit occasionally.  So is Great Expectations pimping me as a one night stand? The lonely people do things such as this, and there should be regulations against it.

Response to Complaint

AUTHOR: Great Expectations - (United States of America)

Karen,

We find it very disappointing that you feel the need to complain about our program when we have e-mails from you documenting request to hold off on setting up dates with you, and questions regarding events.

After you first signed up for the service, Tracey sent you an e-mail that same day and in the e-mail it states we are not an instant expectation, it takes time to meet the right person. Please never hesitate to call or email me with questions or if you would like assistance.

On Feb. 8th, Tracey sent you a profile to view as she felt the two of you would be a possible match.

Between the days of Feb. 11th-Feb. 18th there are emails between you and the membership services department regarding information about an upcoming event. One March 21, Tracey sent you another profile to view and the next day you responded and asked that she hold off setting anything up until4/12.

On the days of March 12th and 29th and April 3rd, 9th, 12th and 19th you were informed/reminded of upcoming events. The events consisted of dinner parties, a baseball game, and a beginners yoga class. March 30th you reminded us you would need to hold off for a few weeks, and informed Tracey of your reason. Tracey sent back a personal email letting you know that you were in her prayers.

April 4th you sent an e-mail saying you were ready to meet people, once Tracey got back into the office after the Easter Weekend, she apologized for her delayed response and contacted a male member on your behalf. On April 18th you once again contacted Tracey stating you would now not be available to meet anyone until after April 30th.

Tracey sent you another possible match on April 28th, giving you time to view the profile and possibly have something set up once you were ready. A course there has been no dating going on, it keeps getting putting it off.

You also took the time to sign the contract and initial where it states that there are no refunds. According to Indiana State law, www.indianaconsumer.com, there are only three ways out of a contract. If the contract states a return policy or the right to cancel, after 3-days if the seller is at the buyers home or away from the business location, if the contract is with a health spa, with a credit repair company, or with a timeshare/camping club. You can cancel a contract after 30 days if its with a work from home company.

We have done everything we possibly can to make this a positive experience for you, were sorry you have been unable to enjoy it so far, however, we are here and waiting to help you find someone as soon as you're ready. Please feel free to contact Tracey to get started.
