Corporate Advocacy Program™
That didn't do us ANY good because they are STILL refusing to release the funds. We've called their bank, Synovus, who basically laughed in our faces and mocked us. We've spoken to supervisors, managers, etc. We've even had a lawyer call them all to no avail.
My family and I are unemployed and while $70 may not seem a large amount to a corporation, that is a week's worth of food for the three of us right there. So thanks Green Dot and Synovus for starving us. I am sick of your lies, your false promises, and your belligerence. Horrid customer service, horrid supervisors without ANY power to help, and none will clear it same day at that exact time. I've worked financial services. I KNOW YOU CAN MOVE IT FROM PENDING TO AVAILABLE FUNDS RIGHT THEN AND THERE. that's why people BUY these cards to put money on them and have it available immediately.
BUYER BEWARE: Do not get one of these cards. This company is hokey, the banks is based in Barbados, the Customer Service Agents do nothing but mock you, and the corporation is there to steal your hard-earned money. You're better off just sticking to cash, not paying your bills online, and doing everythign the old fashioned way of mailing in checks.

The fact of the matter is Greendot is a scam

What if selling cigarettes while unemployed is their job? what if it was their last $70? WHO CARES, THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS GREENDOT RIPPED THEM OFF LIKE THEY DID ME WITH $5500 OF MY TAX REFUND MONEY. I had to post on here and other sites to get a response from Greendot. Though my total loss time was a week, I did get resolution and they actually credited me back $50 per card.
And how about I went into early labor, 3 wks due to the financial stress the day they froze my cards. Luckily my baby boy was born healthy. So I for one I am blessed and glad I learned my lesson too. I will use paper checks the old fashioned way for my refunds. And I will NEVER USE GREENDOT OR ANY OTHER PREPAID CARD AGAIN!

As for the rebuttal comment about this users purchase and being unemployed and such, did it ever occur to whoever wrote that this person may have NOT been unemployed at the time this was ordered??I am not even going to pretent to know their particular situation, and as you do not either be careful about jumping to conclusions and making judgements on people when you dont know all the facts. Karma has a way of biting you in the butt on things like that! It could be you next people are judging and criticizing!

Was thinking the same thing

I was thinking the same thing and the last poster...
Just saying - you can't admit that you were buying a non-essential item and then later guilt trip the company and play the unemployed card. You can't fairly mention that you were buying cigarettes, only to turn around and say that you're in need of that very money to eat.
If you were in fact ordering food/essential items, then I apologize and suggest you mention that in your complaint.
