I want to say that I had my daughter type this out for me, because I am 69 years old and know nothing about computers. I have been with Greentree since they were bought out by Conseco and have had nothing but trouble with them from the start. I had a major heart attack almost ten years ago and had open heart surgery. I had to retire early from my job with RCA in Circleville, Ohio. While I was recovering and waiting on my retirement to kick in, I missed a payment and Greentree became brutal with their harassment.
Threatening me, my wife, and even my children. They didn't stop for even one minute.
I received my retirement and struggled with a huge monthly house payment, which had an extremely high interest rate. I contacted my cousin, who is a lawyer and former mayor of our small town, and he was able to help me get them to do a loan modification. However, my home was constantly being called days before the payment was due and they said "When are you going to make you payment?" The calls weren't just one, but 4 and 5 calls a day. They knew that my retirement came on the second Wednesday of every month, but yet they still called. How can a company that has computers not be able to mark on someone's account that this is when the payment would be made? It shows total incompetence and a lack for details, but let you be late or have trouble making a payment and they are all over it.
Recently, things have gotten worse with the company and myself. Because of the harsh winter we have had, my electric bill was over half of what my wife and I get for retirement. We had to pay the electric or they were going to shut if off. In the five years since the modification, we have never missed a payment. We had to miss this month's payment to pay the electric. We tried everything to help with the electric, because we knew Greentree would do what they had done so far. We had little to no help with a $1400.00 electric bill. Therefore, we paid it and called Greentree to try and pay extra on the next few payments to catch the missed payment up. They wouldn't have anything to do with the suggestion. They said we are going to start foreclosure proceedings and they sent a letter two days later stating just that.
These people won't work with anyone and they want to argue with me to the point that it makes my heart hurt. They threaten myself, my wife, and my children, who have tried to speak for me so I won't get upset, but nothing. They demanded my wife and I's bank account numbers and when we refused to give it to them, they said "we will get it one way or another." They wanted us to give them a check from our account and because we don't trust them, we send money orders. My daughter made a payment to these people with a check from her account and the next month they took our house payment out of her account without approval. These people are shady to say the least. It is like working with a loan shark or a corrupt bank.
Now they want to take my home from me and we have nowhere to go at our age it seems hopeless and bleak. I hope that some attorney, big time attorney, picks up all of our complaints against this company and helps us file a suit against them. I have contacted several and I am waiting for them to get back with me. I plan on sharing this website and few other ones about Greentree with them. With the help of my daughter, I will fight to keep my home.
