ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO, WE SIGNED A CONTRACT TO PURCHASE A DOUBLE WIDE MOBILE HOME FROM CONSECO FINANCE. EVERYTHING WAS FINE, AND THAN GREENTREE FINANCE TOOK OVER. I STARTED RECEIVING HARRASSING PHONE CALLS OF EVERY PHONE NUMBER WHEN I WAS A FEW WEEKS LATE ON MY PAYMENT. SOMETIMES UP TO 30-40 CALLS PER DAYS. THEY WERE CALLING MY FATHER, AND TELLING HIM THAT THEY WERE FORECLOSING ON OUR HOME, AND DISCUSSED OUR LOAN WITH MY FAMILY WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW.
NO MATTER WHAT WE PAID, WE WERE NEVER CAUGHT UP, AS IT APPEARS THAT ONCE YOU ARE BEHIND, THEY ADD SO MANY FRAUDULENT CHARGES TO YOUR ACCOUNT, AND THE FUNNY THING IS THAT YOU NEVER CAN TALK TO GREENTREE. YOUR CALL IS ROUTED TO A COLLECTION AGENCY THAT SAYS THEY ARE GREENTREE. THEY HAVE PUT ME THROUGH HELL FOR SO LONG.
LAST JUNE 2006 I WAS TOLD THAT I OWED 2 PAYMENTS, ONE FOR MAY ABOUT 587.00 AND JUNE 587.00, SO I POST DATED TWO CHECKS. THE FIRST CHECK DIDN'T GO THROUGH, SO I IMMEDIATELY SENT A MONEY GRAM FOR 590.00. SHORTLY AFTER THE SECOND CHECK WAS RETURNED AND I DID ANOTHER MONEY GRAM FOR 790.00 WHICH WAS APPROXIMATELY 200.00 OVER THE AMOUNT TO BRING THE ACCOUNT UP TO DATE.
SO IN JULY I THOUGHT I OWED 300.00 OR SO, BUT I WAS TOLD THAT I OWED 1200.00??? OR THEY WERE GOING TO FORECLOSE. I SOMEHOW GOT THE MONEY TOGETHER AND MONEY GRAM THAT AMOUNT. SO I THOUGHT EVERYTHING WAS FINE. WRONG. I FOUND OUT THAT THEY HAVE BEEN HOLDING THE 790.00 MONEY GRAM AND NOW HOLDING THE 1200.00 MONEY GRAM, AND I JUST RECEIVED PAPERS THAT THEY FILED IN COURT FOR FORECLOSURE.
THESE PEOPLE ARE CRIMINALS THAT NEED TO BE LOCKED UP. THEY SEND ME A LETTER A LONG TIME AFTER I MADE THESE PAYMENTS SO THAT I WOULD AGREE TO PAY 780.00? MORE FOR AUGUST PAYMENT, AND ALSO 1,000.00 FOR ATTORNEYS FEES. I HAVE ASKED FOR A HISTORY STATEMENT, BUT FUNNY THING IS, I NEVER GET IT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ANYMORE. I PAID EVERYTHING THEY ASK FOR, BUT THEY ARE HOLDING IT, SO MY ACCOUNT LOOK DELINQUENT.
I HAVE HEARD OF CROOKS, BUT NEVER LIKE THIS. I HAVE NO MONEY FOR ATTORNEYS, SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I REALLY AND TRULY DON'T BELIEVE THAT GREENTREE OR CONSECO IS A REAL COMPANY ANYMORE. I HAD ASKED THAT MY ACCOUNT BE SET UP ON A MONTHLY DRAFT, AND THEY NEVER RESPONDED, EXCEPT WITH THIS LAW SUIT.

I E-mailed Our Attorney General 2 day! He came down hard on Ameriquest Mortgage in 2006. They now owe money to their consumers. Mybe he'll do the same to conseco AKA Greentree I emailed his office e-mail. Everyone all over can do this!! Let's see what happens

I get so sick of hearing this as everyone's first response! It's almost as bad as the BBB suggestion!
Does anyone actually know how expensive it is to file and pursue and win a class action lawsuit? And, do you know that you have to pay all expenses UP FRONT in most cases?
Did you know that even if you win, you get next to nothing in most cases? The lawyers make all of the money. The victims get nothing, or next to it.
Then there is the "contact the BBB" response. Well, this too, is a TOTAL waste of time. The BBB has absolutely no authority to do anything. They are just another BUSINESS, in it for the MONEY!
A little education goes a long way. I hope this saves you all alot of aggravation, expense, and embarrassment.
Good luck.

I just read a article on my Attorney General office about Ameriquest mortgage! They lost! But you can file a complaint to your Attorney Generals office Against Conseco/Greentree whatever their calling themselves these days!

I had my home repossessed this past June after paying on it for 10 yrs, you can read my complaint from Jacksonville Fl and I kid you not they really took my home and now are trying to make me pay for the money they did not get out of the sell of the home. This has been a living nightmare and me being disabled, i have had a mobile home donated to me but i have no heat, and it needs allot of repairs but it's a home and i am thankful for it. Please let's not let these crooks get away with this anymore. They keep pushing us around and it has to stop! Let's do something about it and stop talking about it, anyone open for comments? Do something about it! First call or email the Better Business Bureau, then The Dept.of Financial Instituitions, Then the Attorney General( getting this?) make as much trouble for them as they do for you! OH did I mention your states Banking Commision and any other Local or State Consumer protection agencies you can find. You should request a Recorded Schedual Report from them that contains all your payment history.
Have them send it to you (if it is not accurate it then also becomes MAIL FRAUD!) Doing this I assure you if your accounting is correct, you will be heard, they WILL HAVE TO TALK TO YOU AND MAKE IT RIGHT! CLASS ACTION SUIT ANYONE?

They deal with many poor customers, and calling and working with your representative or his manager will go a lot better than complaining, which causing a manager to really just want to get your out of their deliq by kicking you out.....

Hi Debra. Sorry to hear about this. I posted my own report on what Greentree is doing to me and although many people here might try to blame us for being irresponsible I believe it's just as irresponsible for a company to promise one thing then set you up for guaranteed failure later.
At one point I could and was more than willing to pay Greentree. With their "extra" fees, and the fact you can talk to no one who actually works for them. They may say they do but their collections are all contracted so those you speak with regarding your account sometimes have only third hand information regarding your account.
I have a sister who works in the banking industry. Most banks, and I'm sure you can include Greentree here, insure the loans they make even on secured loans so that if the loan falls into default they will get their money no matter what and still sue you for deficiency.
Greentree is in this kind of business deep. It's a very big money making scam. I have nothing against a company posting large profits but it would be nice to know that they did it without hosing who knows how many families!
Read my post. Stay away from Greentree. They are criminals and I suspect that someday they'll do something stupid enough that a smart lawyer will able to take to court and win and thus expose their unethical practices and with any hope bankrupt Greentree just as they have bankrupted so many consumers.
