I was given a quote of $1053 for the pickup and delivery of my furniture (Fl to PA). The men came when I was at work and my disabled son, who was fast talked and did not understand the "new terms" of the contract, signed the paperwork. They added an additional $50 for the items, and they DID NOT take all of the items which I had on the list. In fact, my estimate for 20 boxes was actually 17, yet they charged me more money and did not take items that were on the list/contract to move (ladder, television, etc.).
When I spoke with Sergio (sales), we discussed what my options were for storing my items, since we did not agree ahead of time that I would need storage for a few days to transport myself to Pittsburgh. He stated, "I will see what I can do." That was 12/19. I did not hear from the company again.
In the interim, I was charged $150, without consulting me about the fee, when I could have had the furniture moved to my family's storage site in Ft. Lauderdale. Sergio told me that he or Dave (manager) would contact me to tell me of the solution. I am not disputing that there should have been a charge for the storage, but they did not tell me they were going to charge me to give me the option to have my furniture moved to the family site.
Additionally, I told them on 12/24 I was ready for delivery. No contact until I called them on 12/31 (after two emails asking for my furniture to be delivered - they were ducking my calls) and found out about the fee. No 24 hour notice of delivery as promised. The delivery man called me at 11:00 AM on 1/3 to tell me they would be at my house by 5:00 PM that same day!
The furniture was delivered to an alley behind my house because their truck was weighed down. It had other deliveries in it and since the truck was dragging its bumper from the weight going up the hill, they advised me they would need to charge me an additional $250 to bring the furniture to my home. As if the truck being too weighted down was MY FAULT and I should pay more! They put my stuff in the alley, 75 feet from their truck, when it should have been delivered to my house. I rented a Uhaul appliance dolly to move the stuff from the alley to my home! Unreal!
Their website does not work (www.greenwayvanlines.com) so real contact with them is at the mercy of emails with these unscrupulous individuals! My concern is for an elderly person who will be held hostage by their lies and deceit. And the BBB gave them a rating of a B- which is a JOKE! I am sending a complaint to them as well.
