This individual uses very deceptive sales tactics to convince older investors that he is some big-shot type of a financial guru, when in fact he has very little in-depth knowledge of how all financial matters work.  He sells purely annuities claiming he has been on talk shows, both tv and radio (only called into them on phone - considers that "being on show") and also states that he is a "highly decorated war veteran" and sometimes states he was in a "Special Forces unit" when in fact he was an A/C mechanic in the Navy.  The decorations he received were commonly given to field service technicians in the support field.  He also claims he has a doctorate in finance, although he has very little knowledge of how to read a tax return or how to properly assemble the necessary components for a comprehensive estate plan.  No working knowledge of life insurance, securities or the basic tools necessary for most plans, only annuities.  He also states, in his introductions and bio, that he was awarded a "Congressional Medal of Merit" - had to do some digging on this one.  It was given to him simply due to a donation he gave to a political party, and the donation was given for the explicit purpose of him being able to later boast he was awarded this "medal".  He travels between Rhode Island, Florida and other locations, claiming that he is in such demand, but in fact the case is most probably due to the fact that if he stayed in the same location for a long period of time, as most established planners do, he would be found out.  He also resorts to working at various agencies in order to gain their trust and uses their well established agency and company names, and then often continues to use these company names without thier knowledge or protection.  In two words for anyone reading this - STAY AWAY.

Even if report is completely false

AUTHOR: Gregg Arthur Bisson - ()

Taken direct from Ripoff Report

Since the Ripoff Report was started in 1998, our policy has always remained the same - we dont remove reports. We will not remove reports even when they are claimed to contain defamatory statements. We will not remove reports even if the original author asks us to do so. Also, contrary to what our critics would like to believe, we will NOT remove reports for money. Dont believe us? Just make us an offer and see how we respond.

Some people have criticized this policy as being unfair, but we strongly feel this policy is essential, fair, and far better than the alternative rampant censorship.

We have many reasons for our policy, but here are three of the most important ones:

FIRST - we are not in a position to judge the credibility and truthfulness of the 600,000+ reports and the many millions of other comments posted on our site. Except for statements clearly marked as Editors Comments (or otherwise indicated as being from us), all material posted on the Ripoff Report is created entirely by third party users of our site, not by us (this includes reports AND their titles). Because our reports come from users, we are not in a position to know what is accurate and what isnt. Of course, when people contact us to dispute the accuracy of something on our site, we have no way of knowing who they are or whether they are telling the truth. For that reason, we cannot simply remove reports because one side claims that something in the report is inaccurate. ( here in the United States) does not hold website operators responsible for the accuracy of material posted by a user. SECOND - we do not remove reports because we believe this site is most effective when all complaints are maintained and preserved so that over time patterns of truly bad business practices are exposed. If we removed reports upon request or after a certain period of time, this would provide consumers with less information to use when evaluating a company. Unlike the Better Business Bureau (which deletes complaints after just 36 months and which has been accused of hiding complaints in exchange for money), we maintain a permanent record of all complaints. This ensures that our viewers have more information rather than less.

THIRD - if we removed complaints on request this would give companies an incentive to pressure authors to remove true and accurate reports in exchange for money or simply to avoid a costly lawsuit. Its a well-known fact that most people arent willing or able to spend $100,000 in legal fees defending a defamation lawsuit, so even when a person has written a 100% true report, there is a huge amount of pressure for them to just remove it when threatened with legal action.

For that reason, we will not agree to remove reports upon request, even if someone can show that a report is probably inaccurate. By having this policy, we take leverage away from companies who threaten or pressure a customer hoping to get them to retract a valid complaint

100% of the original complaint is written by a compeditor and false. It is sad that web sites like this post false information with no way to have it removed.

Gregg Bisson's Response

AUTHOR: Renee - ()

My name is Gregg A. Bisson, Ph.D. I wish to respond to every issue addressed in this post made by an ANNONYMOUS blogger on Friday, June 4, 2010, that has recently come to my attention.  A list of supporting sources will be provided for verification.

I do market through seminars. I feel it is a wonderful way to meet the community and let them get to know me, as well.  I do share some things that I have done, both personal and professionally, so that the public may learn about me. I sell annuities and life insurance with multiple insurance carriers because one-size does not fit all. My insurance license record and status can be easily verified. My choice to work in the insurance industry is not by accident. It is a deliberate choice.  I sleep very well at night knowing that my clients money is not at risk. I always say that it isnt what you make, but what you keep. Im not embarrassed by my job in the slightest.  I take it very seriously.  I dont believe that servicing the public with state approved products that must pass suitability a rip-off.  I have been a member of the Top of the Table for much of my career. This was copied and pasted from the website:

Founded in 1927, the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), The Premier Association of Financial Professionals, is an international, independent association of nearly 38,000 of the world's leading life insurance and financial services professionals from more than 450 companies in 79 countries. MDRT members demonstrate exceptional professional knowledge, strict ethical conduct and outstanding client service. MDRT membership is recognized internationally as the standard of sales excellence in the life insurance and financial services business. (Please see www.MDRT.ORG)

Ive achieved this because I absolutely do know my business.  I have many, many wonderful clients that have attributed, resulting in an incredibly rewarding 20 years.  Throughout my career, I have been asked to speak, occasionally, on different media programs.

I am deeply insulted that my military service is seen as a joke. I was not in the Special Forces, nor would I ever claim to be.  I joined the United States Navy when I was 17.  I worked very hard as a technician while accomplishing other goals as well. While I served in the Navy, I also became a nationally registered Emergency Medical Technician and volunteered in the local Fire and Sherriffs departments. (Please see my DD214 from the navy, www.SCFA.state.sc.us & www.NREMT.org to verify all of the above).

This blogger maintains that I have very little knowledge in the area of finance.  I have earned two Ph.Ds. and attend continuing education forums to stay apprised of the latest in the financial world. I do not give tax advice, securities advice, or legal advice to clients, as it would be ILLEGAL for me to do so. Again, I am deliberately only licensed for insurance products, so I always recommend that clients meet and discuss proposed annuity investments with others on their financial team. (Please see www.Ashford.edu & www.Belforduniversityonline.org as well as www.PLInewyork.edu to verify)

The Congressional Medal of Merit is not a boast. It was received because I take an active interest in community and politics. I am proud of it.

I do travel and conduct business in multiple states. I am licensed to do so. This is not a sinister plan. The reason is very simple. I enjoy travel, spending time with friends and family that live about the country, and not shoveling snow.  I am incredibly fortunate that I can do my job in multiple locations.  I do work with colleagues, not to steal their reputation. That is absurd. Im able to work with partners because of earned respect and professionalism. I have clients in many states. Many, I service in both their northern and southern residences. I am always available to clients for appointment or consultation. (Please see wiki.answers.com to verify the Congressional Medal of Merit)

Please also feel free to search my designations RFC (www.iarfc.org), CSA (www.csa.us/CSAVerifier.aspx) & CEP (www.nicep.org).

If you would like to check on the status of my insurance licenses you may do so as follows:

FL- www.myfloridacfo.com (850)413-3100

DE- www.delawareinsurance.gov  (302)577-5280

MD- www.mdinsurance.state.md.us (410)468-2244

TN- www.tn.gov/insurance (615)741-2218

RI- www.dbr.state.ri.us/divisions/insurance (401)462-9520

CT- www.ct.gov (860)297-3800

I stand behind the business I conduct and I am really proud of the work I do. The true rip-off here is that this website charges thousands of dollars to go to arbitration, and even when found to be completely vindicated, which I absolutely would be, the post remains. Too, that someone, I presume to be a competitor, can cowardly attack your character without owning it with his or her name.

I appreciate your taking the time to read my response.  I look forward to earning your business.

Sincerely,

Gregg A. Bisson Ph.D.

The truth about Gregg Bisson

AUTHOR: Billy S - ()

This so called "report" on Gregg Bisson serves as nothing more than a shining example of how easy it is to spread garbage and lies on the internet. Any thinking person that reads this should question not only its merits but the character of its author as well. I have known Gregg since we served in the US Navy together; when he was not only an young A/C mechanic, but also a highly respected 2nd Class Petty Officer. Even then, Gregg was trusted amongst his subordinates, his peers, and his superiors. He was often sought out for professional opinion and personal advise by those who knew him because he is a recognized problem solver. Soon after I met him, Gregg began studying for his future career in Estate Planning which began with insurance. Since then he has not only been my friend, but also my most trusted financial advisor. I know Gregg Bisson. He is an honorable man that does what is right, for his clients, his friends, and his family. Surprisingly enough, I know the writer of this "report" as well. Not by name or face, but I know the character. A typical snake oil salesman who offers neither facts nor proof; only anonymous accusations thinly veiled as a warning to the consumer. Obviously the writer is hoping that a portion of those reading it may become his or her own future clients. I think perhaps, the writer should take a note from Gregg's playbook and work hard instead...research options and opportunities to provide the best possible information and advise to clients, use media in a positive manner and yes, maybe even travel or even move to grow your business and aid more people.

Read This First!!!

AUTHOR: T. Parker - (United States of America)

If youve attended a seminar or you are considering doing business with Gregg Bisson READ THIS FIRST!!!

I happened upon the Ripoff Report through a friend whom I referred to Mr. Bisson. I am disgusted and taken aback by its claims and could not, in good conscience, not reply.  Ive been to many seminars of Mr. Bisson.  I have heard the list of Mr. Bissons credentials, some work related and some just accomplishments. They are not given to boast but as an introduction. I know Gregg to be a very proud veteran, as I am the same. What kind of morals must this claimant have to belittle someones service, no matter the capacity,to our country?  I think this is nothing more than a petty, jealous rant and Im sure its from his so-calledcompetition that undoubtedly lost business to Mr. Bisson. What was the ripoff?
What crime? What offense?  Mr. Bisson sells annuities. Is that the offense? The report is ridiculous.

I have worked with Gregg for years. He has given me founded, educated advice and always encourages
independent research. He has advised me to call companies directly, and discuss decisions with my accountant, tax advisor, attorney and so on.Those suggestions arent made by the dishonest. I am well aware that Gregg does business
throughout our country. I see him regularly and he is always available for questions or consultation.  Do yourself a
favor and make your own opinion. I am privileged to have the opportunity to  work with him.  T. Parker
