*Author of original report: Response to Hulka
*Consumer Comment: The original Big Toe, Sgt. Hulka from 'Stripes', sends his heartfelt condolences....
I purchased supplemental insurance from GTL to cover any injuries caused from sudden accidental situations. Several months later I broke my toe mountain biking that required surgery. During surgery the doctor also found arthritis. A condition that is non-repairable. The doctor submitted his findings to the insurance that included both the broken toe repair, and that he identified arthritis. GTL simply stated the injury was caused my arthritis and won't pay my 8k claim. This is very frustrating since there is no
cure for arthritis, therefore, who would ever have a surgery performed for that issue. They simply accept my payments, and when you file a claim...they don't pay. I submitted four appeals with the surgeon writing a note explaining this was a broken toe, and they still denied the claim. Just really glad I've been paying them premiums for a year and now they are laughing at me.
